Vacancy (2007) Film Review

April 23, 2007 By Dustin Leave a Comment

Some people I’ve talked to did not like this movie at all. Personally, I think it’s great. Talented actors, a fairly unique horror storyline, and some scare tactics equal a good movie to me. I heard more screams in this movie this weekend than I’ve heard in a while. One little girl even came out crying.

Some are saying Vacancy stole concepts from Psycho but I beg to differ. I don’t think this movie was anything like Psycho. I mean, yes, there was a motel but that is where the similarities end. Don’t get me wrong, I loved Psycho but Vacancy is more attuned to today’s horror. It still didn’t scare the crap out of me but I liked it anyway.

Kate Beckinsale and Luke Wilson were a great team. I think they pulled off the whole dysfunctional couple very well. I thought it would not be all that good because I think of Luke Wilson as a comedic actor but he surprised me and pulled through with and awesome performance. Then there is Kate Beckinsale, since Underworld everything she does is awesome, although I was kinda disappointed that she dropped the accent for this movie.
