Andrew goes to Kings Island after work and rides one classic ride and eats one classic cool treat. Riding the Beast at Kings Island is a must do for any coaster enthusiast. Sure, there are a lot of wooden roller coasters out there, but none of them even come close to comparing The Beast. It has won countless awards and thrilled riders for the past 1,000 years or so. (Statement may not be fully accurate)
The Beast roller coaster was unveiled in 1979 and was built in-house at Kings Island. Most parks would hire contractors to plan and build a coaster of this scale, but the Kings Island opted to attempt the feat in house. To this day it is still the world’s longest wooden roller coaster. It also happens to be the best. That’s a fact that can’t be disputed. If you are going to visit The Beast, get there early, and when the park opens head straight to the line.
While you are at the park, be sure to pick up one of the extra special blue ice cream cones. This is my favorite part of Kings Island. What makes it so special? Well, back in the day it was Smurf branded “Smurftastic blue” ice cream, but now it is just Kings Island blue. Some say it is tutti fruity, others say it is a fruit that only God himself has access to. In reality, it is just blueberry, but it really hits the spot on a hot day. Pro-tip, splurge the 50 cents and get sprinkles, or “Jimmies” if you’re one of those people…
