Escape From New York Remake

August 16, 2007 By Craig Layne 2 Comments

Well it looks like Snake Plissken is going to be back on the big screen. Director Len Wiseman (Die Hard, Underworld) is currently wrapping up the negotiations to start filming this 1980’s remake. For all of you Kurt Russell fans, don’t get too excited. There will be a Snake Plissken but he will not be played by Russell.

How can there be another Escape movie without Kurt Russell? I think we can all agree that there is no one else for the part. However, it is rumored that Gerald Butler will be taking on the part. I guess if Kurt Russell can’t do the part, Butler is the second best. I will always see Kurt Russell with a mullet, and an eye patch, and can’t see anyone else playing the role.

So what do you guys think? Will Butler be the right man for the job? Or, do you think Escape from New York fit for a remake at all? I look forward to your comments.
