Righteous Kill – Review

De niro, Pacino - Righteous Kill

When I received the first promos for Righteous Kill I was totally excited. Al Pacino and Robert De Niro together on the big screen! On top of that the slogan just blew me away, you know “Some people respect the badge, everybody respects the gun.” Sadly, Righteous Kill left me disappointed. No, it wasn’t an awful film, it was enjoyable, just not something I want to watch again. you know what, i take that back, it wasn’t very enjoyable either.

So what went wrong with Righteous Kill? I really don’t know where to start.

Problem number 1 was the fact that Pacino, or De Niro either one fit their roles. I was shocked to see how old both men looked. I know they are both in their sixties, but damn. They looked like they should have been playing retired detectives, not active duty detectives.

Problem Number 2, the film was boring. Plain and simple the story was so dull, it made the story boring. I had the whole film figured out before it even hit the second act. It was so obvious to me, and the friends I went with agreed that the film was way too predictable.

Problem Number 3, the trailers were better than the film. I am so sick of movie trailers hyping up garbage. More effects, and talent go into the making of trailers than the whole movie. To be frank the effort put into this film was pathetic. It was like everyone was tired, and not willing to work to their fullest ability.

Looking back on it, I am very sad i wasted my time on this film. I sat through Pacino’s 88 Minutes, which sucked, and i have now done it again with Righteous Kill. I hat to say it but I may be done watching films by this duo.
