I’ll have to admit that I’ve missed this one. Sorry, but I just hadn’t heard anything about The Brothers Bloom. But I’m guessing that if I haven’t heard anything about it, there is a solid chance that a decent number of other people haven’t heard of it either. I found this trailer over at Trailer Addict, and I only had to read the description before I knew I would be checking out this film. The film is about con-men!
“Welcome to the world of The Brothers Bloom, where deception is an art and nothing is as it seems. The brothers have perfected the art of swindling fortunes through years of fraternal teamwork. Now they’ve decided to take on one last spectacular job—luring a beautiful and eccentric heiress into an elaborate plot that takes them around the world.”
I love the whole idea of con-men. Some of my favorite movies have been about con-men. From Matchstick Men to Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, I just love seeing charismatic jerks swindle ignorant bastards out of their hard earned cash. It’s funny! The art of the swindle, it’s like watching a fun heist film. The Brothers Bloom seems to fit in line nicely as a solid entry in the long lineup of great con films. It looks funny. The acting seems solid. I’ll admit that I am a fan of Adrian Brody; I think he’s very talented. And I won’t lie to you, I’ve seen Mark Ruffalo before in a chick flick I watched with my wife, and I thought the guy was very funny. Can’t go wrong with Rachel Weisz either. I think this film is definitely worthy of a look.
The Brothers Bloomwill try to con you out of your hard earned cash on May 29th.
