Boy did the Movieguys have an exciting weekend this week! So exciting in fact, they didn’t talk about anything else. ¾ of the Movieguys took an awesome adventure to not one, but two amusement parks. Let me correct myself, one amusement park, i.e. Kings Island, and one theme park, i.e. Cedar Point. Tune into this week’s episode of the Intermission Podcast to hear all about the trip, Guy’s antics, and the near apocalyptic disaster that left Cedar Point looking like a scene from a creepy zombie movie.
Kings Island: The Departure
The fun starts early with a futile plan to leave at 7 a.m. Seven, in the morning, can you believe that?! Guy, amazingly, was only seven minutes late… Because he forgot to pack. So now they have to stop and let Guy buy his toothbrush and what not, search for donuts, and annoy the gas station attendant (they didn’t say he did but I could hazard a guess). Miraculously, the Movieguys “Intermission Podcast Mobile” must have passed through a wormhole because they got to Kings Island on time!
Ecto-Cooler Celebration and the Kings Island Experience
So now at Kings Island (well the parking lot) the Movieguys take a step back in time. As you might have heard, especially if you listen to the Intermission Podcast, Hi-C is re-introducing Ecto-Cooler in celebration of the new Ghostbusters movie. Though, as Craig often complains, it is quite hard to obtain but he did manage to get some from the good folks at Amazon.com so in the Kings Island parking lot the Movieguys crack open their first case in decades, and man was it good (I assume, since I wasn’t invited). They walked right up to the front gate with the cans in their hands and are allowed to take them inside the park. Guy claims it was because he serviced the old lady taking tickets, but we all know it was because of Josh’s hair, it has untold power. Kings Island was cold, rainy, and empty, making it the perfect day to ride rollercoasters and stuff. It was also foodtruck day, so the Movieguys eat excotic food like hotdogs and pizza, at half the price of park food.
While at Kings Island, exciting things of many sorts occur (though not nearly as exciting as this weekends going to get). Some old man is spotted wearing a shirt claiming to have ridden the Diamondback some 13,905 times. While at the arcade, Craig gets dissed by a card dispensing machine and Josh buys a million bouncy balls. Someone tries to buys the pants off a mannequin while Guy takes 3 hours to buy a t-shirt. The Movieguys also met up with Andrew from the Idle Chatter Podcast making this the perfect Kings Island adventure.
Cedar Point: The Departure
On the way to Tiffin Ohio, the waypoint for the Movieguys between Kings Island and Cedar Point, they stop at an Arby’s where Guy King spends his life savings. The rest of the drive to the hotel was very uncomfortable for Craig for reasons too taboo to discuss here (he almost pooped his pants!) while T-Paine tells the Movieguys where to go and how to get there. While at the hotel, the guys run into a drunk wedding party and Guy admires the ladies while Craig admires the men, both apparently a good looking bunch. Craig has to sign a hotel waiver promising not to call the cops if anything happens and Guy forgets his water in the lobby. The next morning Guy goes down to the front desk and inquires about the missing beverage, so they take him into the lost and found room and retrieve for him his H2O. Such service!
Cedar Point: #CPblackout
Upon arriving at Cedar Point, Craig points out to Guy repeatedly, to look at his ticket. Guy says “sure, it of course says Guy King.” Craig tells him again, look at it, the middle name. “It’s Edward, that’s my middle name.” Then he actually looks…
“Guy ‘I’m Just Here For Gay Day’ King”
Boy what a good start to the day. The day at Cedar Point starts off great with roller coaster riding and riding roller coasters. Then the skies turn grey, then black. The Movieguys decide to take shelter in the chicken tender restaurant and the storm of the century strikes. Thunder rolls, wind blows, rain comes down (okay, you get it), and the electric to the entire park goes out. Some 30 plus power poles along the Cedar Point causeway are blown down. Josh, being the thinking man he is, saves his tator tots to trade for animal pelts and other essential survival gear, in the post-apocalyptic Cedar Point they will assuredly be stuck in. He posts this on the twitter and gets quite a response, #CPblackout. Among these responses was George, from www.imaginerding.com who got into a very exhilarating conversation with Craig and Josh.
“I quickly joined in their conversation about repopulating the world from Cedar Point and hunting down squirrels for food.” -George @imaginerding
The storm finally passes but the power is still out, so the guys wonder around the creepy abandoned amusement park, theme park dammit, I’m sorry. While doing so, they ran into George! He apparently survived the #CPblackout (though he will never be the same, he saw things). Ah, it’s a small world, or post apocalyptic theme park in this case. Now Craig and George are taking a trip down the good o’l North of Carolina to visit Carowinds. Also while blundering around the park, Josh was attacked by a bird who had apparently also seen things. The bird then committed a form of cannibalism, but Josh made it out alive.
