Earlier this evening, some news surfaced regarding the casting of the upcoming film, The Hobbit.
According to an inside source, the part for Bilbo, has been read by, two no-name actors, that have never played any major part in any Hollywood film. Given this information, it is easy to speculate that the part of Bilbo may be played by someone you have never heard of before, and possibly several other characters as well.

I haven’t voiced my opinion on the boards for a while but…
I now know 2 people who have read for Bilbo that I went to Drama school with and I can say categorically they are both entirely unknown outside of the world of theatre & bit TV parts. So…they ARE seeing and have seen unknowns and I would not be surprised if that is the route they take. I don’t think we’ll be seeing any big names for Bilbo or even for many of the Dwarves.
The MGM affrairs – yeh they may well be causing delays but I cannot see that they would halt production altogether. I for one am almost glad that a 2011 release is looking less likely as then time can be taken on the edit to make it really tight.
3D – I would hope that if they do this they will be looking to develop avatar style technology even more. I personally thought it was a promising feast for the eyes although the writing was pretty poor can totally see. I just don’t understand all these movies being changed from 2D to 3D for the sake of it…if you’re going to do it…do it right from the start. Don’t just convert it in a bog effort to make more £$.
As for my own quest to get cast – well it seems this week may in fact be D-Day for me, according to the casting director – I’m excited to hear from Mr Taylor the extent that the world of the dwarf is going to be explored, I think having to cast 13 lends itself to creating 13 entirely unique dwarves, not all fat, gruff voiced & middle aged……I will share as much as I can when I know the details…but wish me luck! “Look for my coming on the 8th Month” …And now I am silent once more…
