First the good news, if you are a Jackass fan at least. Jackass 3 has gotten a green light, and is scheduled to release late in 2010 (October 15th). The film will have all of your favorite cast members, including Steve-O, Bam Margera, Chris Pontius, Wee Man, and of course, Johnny Knoxville.
However, it isn’t all good news. The film is being converted to 3-D. You heard me right, 3-D. I personally feel that there is a place for 3-D in the entertainment industry, but Jackass 3-D isn’t it. Maybe for an amusement park ride, or a fun, children’s flick, but not Jackass.
But the most interesting thing about the film getting the green light in 3-D is the extra funding that it will take. Converting/filming in 3-D will cost significantly more than a 2-D film. So what convinced the executives? Well, apparently the crew converted a stunt, “The Helicocter”, into 3-D. The stunt features Party Boy, with a remote control helicopter tied to his, well, you know. Apparently the executives liked what they say, because they gave the go ahead to produce Jackass 3-D.
