Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice – The good
Batman vs Superman is a great start to the summer blockbuster period, its a film entirely for fans and is a dream come true for most its pure comic book fantasy its loud, oozing with dazzling special effects, gigantic set pieces and a star studded cast.
Henry Cavill, returns as Clark Kent/Superman, who’s existence in the the world is complicated and is questioned by humanity, is he a god or sees himself more superior to humanity and could therefore turn.
Ben Affleck’s Bruce Wayne/Batman is a lot more dark than Christian Bale’s as he is less forgiving and more menacing as he brands the criminals he captures. His Bruce Wayne is a more older, world weary hero, who is tortured the loss of his parents and seeks redemption.
Jesse Eisenberg, is a younger Lex Luthor and his portrayal of Luthor is played out like a pantomime villain, toying with Superman and Holly Hunter’s, Senator Finch. its a lot like a villain straight out of the the Joel Schumacher batman films. it reminds you of Jim Carry’s over the top portrayal of the Riddler. He’s still likeable and a welcome addition to the DC universe.
The films’s main secret weapon and the person who steals the spotlight is Gal Gobot’s Diana Prince/Wonder Woman who has great chemistry with Affleck’s Batman. she’s mysterious yet resourceful.
Batman vs Superman is an overload of the senses, visually rich with Zack Snyder’s signature slow-motion shots and action scenes. its eye boggling in Imax 3D. It boasts impressive visual effects and gigantic set pieces and when the inevitable hero vs hero showdown commences you can”t help but get caught up in the excitement of seeing two of the biggest heroes of comic book mythology take each other on.
Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice – The bad
To fully enjoy Batman vs Superman it would help yo have seen Man of Steel before as the story carries straight on. Also fans who haven’t seen it will find the plot hard to gage with as with so much going on and so much to cram in to its bum numbing 151 min running time you quickly forget a lot of whats happened previously as the plot becomes mind boggling at times, quickly skipping from past to present.
Also Batman Vs Superman is very dark and gloomy at times and is in desperate need of some laughs. The Marvel universe does tend to have its dark moments and themes but its peppered with colorful characters and jokes along the way, the DC universe is a lot darker and gloomy carrying straight on from Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight Trilogy.
