New Trek Trailer!

Star Trek

Star Trek

Here it is, ladies and gentlemen.  The new trailer for JJ Abrams much anticipated remake/reboot of the iconic franchise.  There certainly has been a lot of buzz about this movie lately, with all the pics being put out.  Many people, myself included, were very upset with the apparent direction the movie was taking the Star Trek franchise.  But let me tell you, when I saw this trailer on the big screen, it blew my mind!  Absolutely changed my perceptions of the film.  I am now very psyched to see this.  As a fan of the original series, I was upset with how different the bridge looked, how “metro” the characters looked, and the overall look of the Enterprise.  But all that changed when I got to see this trailer.  If you have not seen it on the big screen, I recommend you go see “Quantum of Solace” immediately so you can enjoy the trailer in all its glory.  If you can’t do that, please, enjoy the trailer here.  What do you guys think?  Are you excited for the film now?

As if you Trekkies don’t already know, Star Trek is slated for release May 8th, 2009

I'm just a humble man with some serious opinions about movies. They are my passion. There is no movie I would not watch, and I will admit to even watching the occasional chick flick with my wife. I love talking about movies too, so feel free to e-mail me! Jon@movieguys.org

  1. I have to wonder if Paramount is having second thoughts about releasing the film next year as opposed to the original December release date?
Will the buzz get hotter or colder? hmmm,,,

With “Harry Potter” pushed up, and the only real sci-fi film in December being, “The Day the Earth Stood Still” it seems like the Christmas release date might have really worked for them.
O,well now Star Trek has to go up against “Terminator 4″,,,
should be an interesting summer… :-)

  2. AWE-FREAKIN’-SOME!

I loved it, dude, this is gonna be great!!!!!!!!!!

It looks fantastic! And the Enterprise looks sweet. Much better than what I was expecting.

    @790,

T4, IMO, doesn’t hold a candle to this. I still can’t believe MC to the friggin’ “Charlies Angels” G is directing it.

  3. The studio is Damned sorry it pushed the release back. There is nothing in December that could stop Star Trek from being number 1. January, February, nothing. Total mistake.

Star Trek vs T4 really shouldn’t be close, but I think it just may be closer than you’d think. People are going to be psyched to see the machine war. No matter how much hatred and contempt we have for McG, the movie will warrant the inevitable T5 and T6. We can do nothing to stop it. I loved the original Terminator films, and there was nothing I wanted more than to see the future war. And as cool as some of this originally seemed to me, 790 has shown me the light. I was let in on some fundamental issues with T4 so far, errors in McG’s judgement, and now that I think about it, I realize they are going about T4 all wrong. You kind of ruined T4 for me, 790. That said, I’m still going to see it, just in case seeing all that metal badassery on screen is cool.

And that is why it will be close. Enough people will be curious about the film. But Star Trek appears to be leaps and bounds ahead of T4 right now. I cannot wait to see this film!!!

Are you a fan of Star Trek, or just a movie fan?

  4. Haha Jon, embrace the knowledge… ;-)

“Terminator 4, Future Salvation”, is definitely going to have a huge impact on Star Trek. It comes out the very next weekend. If JJ, doesn’t pull off a “Dark Knight” epic, it will taper off into “Get Smart”, mediocrity…

Missed it by that much JJ?

  5. It’s in the can right? just move it to April or March..

  6. Lol, Old Man,,, if any franchise could pull that off it would be Star Trek.
I wouldn’t be totally surprised if they do change the release date again…
    :-)

  7. Move it up!!! Why shouldnt they move up the release date? They could say it’s to appease fans, at reap all the financial benefits of opening against nothing for a few weeks.

  8. Really, and if the economy is going to slump further this movie has the potential of being the first feel good movie of the year! That’s gotta be worth extra coin.
