The Wolfman hits theatres February 12, 2010. It is inspired by the classic Universal film that has spawned many horror films of similar ilk since! Staring Benicio Del Toro, Anthony Hopkins, Emily Blunk, and Hugo Weaving this film is sure to be using its Oscar winning skill to bring this iconic film back to life. Lawrence Talbot (Benicio Del Toro) comes back to his family estate after his brother vanishes and is found dead. Talbot had left his family years ago after a troubled childhood that he spent years trying to forget. His brother’s fiancé tracks him down about her missing love; he agrees to help find what killed his brother.
Once home, Talbot learns of horrific killings that have taken place in the village. Many villagers have been murdered along with his brother and a Scotland Yard inspector (Weaving) is sent to investigate. Talbot is also reunited with his estranged father (Hopkins) and begins to learn more of an ancient curse that turns afflicted people into werewolves when the moon is full. As he progresses, Talbot is attacked by the beast and bears the mark. He must find a way to end the slaughter and protect those he loves.
This film goes back in time and has a very dark and believable vintage feel to it. The sets seem well put together with fantastic scenery. Both Del Toro and Hopkins have given outstanding performances in the past and one can hope that they can pull off another outstanding role in this remake. The creature is never seen fully in the trailer which only adds to the anticipation of the movie. Creepy scenes and close up (and well done) transformations will abound. The action sequences in the film seem to be aplenty and should make for an entertaining night out at the theater.
