Okay, so I have a couple links for Fan Films I thought everyone might enjoy if they haven’t seen them. The first is an amazing Gremlins Fan film. This blows my mind each time I watch it. There is also a mini-doc about how this French guy did the film by himself.

Second is a fan film that Chris over at M4N sent me. This is pretty amazing visually and done on a shoe string budget with equipment and software that these guys already had. If you are a fan of Half Life then check this out.

That half life one was freaking awesome man! I love half life.

I liked the doc. about how that guy did the gremlins film. Man, I love a lot of movies, but I just can’t imagine actually making a fan film. So much work goes into something like that. It really has to be a true labor of love to make a good fan film. I’ve made a couple of short films, when I was in high school and college, and it was a lot of fun, especially when they are done and you get to show it off. But it really is a lot of work.

The only movie that I like enough to put all that effort into making a fan made tribute film would be Bruce Campbell vs Army of Darkness. At least that one was done a while ago, so even with minimal work using today’s technology, anything I’d make would look pretty good in comparison. But I’d rather make an original film.

I’m not sure if this link will work or not, but I wanted to share a pretty well done “fan poster” for the next batman flick. The poster is based on the Joker poster from the Dark Knight. Enjoy…It’s pretty cool and a nice casting choice, IMO.

I guess who ever did that poster has done some others that are floating around out on the webs. There are Catwoman and Riddler posters too as well as I think a Huntress. The guy does pretty nice work.

I’ve seen that guy’s stuff before. It’s very very good. I actually saw one before the Dark Knight was released, and I thought it was a legit poster for the movie. Whoever it is, they have talent big time. I love the one with Harley Quinn. I know she doesn’t have a long history in the batman comics, but I’d love to have seen her somewhere in TDK with Joker. Maybe they will be ballsy enough to add Joker into the 3rd film, and give us Harley Quinn in some tight red and black suits. Nice.

Burn After Reading Review (Short sweet and to the point)

This movies is particularly ridiculous in the sense that throughout the entire movie you are wondering the exact same things most of the characters are wondering… and that is “WHAT THE HELL”. I found Brad Pitt to be absolutely hilarious. The bleach in his hair totally got to him. He couldn’t have been more retarded. And I loved the way he died, with that big smile on his face. His best line was “Osbourne Cox, We were wondering if you were worried about the security of your shit.” I about cried I was laughing so hard. George Clooney was kinda annoying because he was so paranoid. I thought it was absolutely hilarious that he was sneaking around with all these girls and was completely shocked when his wife wanted a divorce. That chair thing he made… TOTALLY THREW ME OFF! I was not expecting that AT ALL. But it was pretty hilarious. The Russians? Why did they bring it to the Russians? LOL I loved how confused the two guys at the end of the movie were. Not sure what his name is, but the guy from spiderman (the journalist guy) was like me while I was watching. “So we know nothing…” hahaha

Nothing in that movie made sense whatsoever. Everything that happened was pointless. I have never seen a movie where I was thinking throughout the entire movie “what does this have to do with anything?” It was right up my ally and quite excellent.

@JD Excellent find! I have seen the posters before, but never one that had enough information for me to find the original author.

I am going to throw this out there, take it however you will, but I was thinking that, while we were sort of on the Topic of Batman 3, If they brought in Harley Quinn, Not saying they will, But someone I think should be consdiered for the role would be Cameron Diaz, and the reason I suggest her is because of her performance in Vanilla Sky. I thought she was pretty maniacal and crazy. Though she will need to ditch her annoyin laugh.

I do though, commend you on your casting selection, as I have nothing to offer in that area, so good for you.

I think I’ll actually have a special Batman 3 related post for you all tomorrow. It’s completely original, not based on any news, just something I think you’ll all enjoy.

Oh I agree, I just saw flasshes of carazyness that I felt that Harley Quinn exemplifies. Its really one the most intersting films i have ever seen.

You know who I want to see play Harley? I know this is going to sound insane, but thing about what I’m about to say before you comment!

Reese Witherspoon. She’d be perfect for it. Harley was a down to earth, modest and sweet psychiatrist before counseling the Joker and completely losing it. Reese has that part down pat. And she’s displayed some serious talent in some dramatic roles, and the best crazy person should be played by a real dramatic actor/actress. You think she doesn’t have any anger to draw upon after her divorce? You don’t think she’d love to play a crazy person after years of playing the sweetheart? She can do it, trust me. I’d LOVE to see it, I really freaking would. That would be freaking inspired casting right there!

Reese would be good, however, i really just don’t like her, the only thing that she really did that blew me away was Walk The Line.

Ricci would be fantastic, I have always had a thing for Ricci so i might be a bit biassed, and IMO, she should have won the Oscar for her role in Monster, not Charize Theron, who was good, Ricci was just way better.

Another chick that could IMO, play Harley, would be Mila Kunis.

Here is my two cents of how to bring in Harley as well as cast a new Joker…

Have Mr. J locked up in Arkham and you bring in Harley as his psychiatrist. She would work with him and end up “changing” the Joker’s mind set all the while she is becoming obsessed with him. (Of course he would be playing her). Again, only seeing the Joker, in the dark, from behind, that kind of thing…

She would basically push him over the edge with her obsession with him and theatrics thus turning him into the Joker we all know and love (saving anyone from trying to mimic what Ledger did with the role). Sure he would still have the scars, but by the end of it and before his escape, he would “clean up” his appearance and become more theatrical in his methods. New suit, nicely cut hair, etc…

Just a thought…

I like the thought for how Harley would work herself into Nolan’s next Batman, but I’m not sure changing the Joker from TDK Joker to Jack Nicholson’s joker would be a good idea though. I loved Heath’s take, and more importantly, it fit in the themes Nolan likes to explore. Not sure he’d have a place in the next one if the character went in that direction.

I like Mila Kunis, and I think she can play more than just the hot comic relief ala Ana Faris, but not Harley. Just don’t see it.

I really am into the idea of bringing In Harley Quinn, however, without the Joker, there is really no place for her, espcially since i think that it would be a mistake to recast The Joker.

I actaully heard about this petition going around requestiong WB to never have the Joker appear in anything, more or less retring the cahractor, due to Ledgers performance. I think thats the dumbest thing I have heard of. I will agree that retiring him from Nolans Batman would be fair, but from anything else pertaining to The Bat, C’Mon, get real! I think it had something like 188,000 names or something. Stuoid People, probaly never read a Batman comic in their life.
OK I’m done with my little rant now.

Anyone want to see Deadshot, be a subsequent villian? I loved the last Bit on Gotham Knight, I reallyu would not mind seeing him in live action.

Just to clarify…by NO means am I referring Jack (Twice the calories of the original Joker) Nicholson’s Joker. Right now, as far as I’m concerned the best Joker has been Mark Hamill. He had a great balance between psychotic and theatrical…flamboyant, smart ass, brutal, whatever it was…it worked.

And if anyone wants to argue that with: “yeah, but that was a cartoon”, then my follow up is yep and it’s sad that the writers on a “kids WB” cartoon series are better than anything that Hollywood has puked out in the way of Batman.

Be sure to tune into M4N soon for the JD and KURT take on BATMAN and the NOBODIES. (You just got a preview…this will definitely come up in the conversation)

And yes…I would be down with a little Deadshot in the next flick.

Ok JD, sorry for the confusion. I thought you were referring to Jack’s take. I would agree that my favorite take on the character (and let me just say that I am a massive fan, so I’ve read just about every joker appearance ever, and I think I know just about everything about the character.) is the animated Joker from that awesome batman toon in the 90’s. I absolutely loved that, it was freaking awesome character. Brutal at times, but equally hilarious and definitely crazy. That joker was far and away the most fun Joker ever. I would love to see some more of that.

Side note, I’m glad that Hamill is doing the voice of the Joker in the upcoming Arkham Asylum game, which looks insanely awesome, by the way.

I have to agree with the Hamil Joker, I think the reasin being that outside of Ledgers joker, Hamil’s Joker encompesses various traits from not only Nicholson’s, but Romero’s Joker as well, He is perfect blend of the two, but thats just my perspective on it.

I cannot wait for Arkham Asylum, that looks like it will fantastic!

I have to ask…does anyone care that they are producing a THOR movie?

This seems like a really bad idea to me. With the way comic book films have been translated recently, I can’t really wrap my head around how they are going to do THOR?

Now in all fairness, I’ve never read THOR. I know he has a big hammer and was in the Hulk TV movie a while back.

Any insight into this? It’s kinda bugging me, because of all the other great characters out there that would make great films.
