After much waiting we finally have some more information on the upcoming video-game adaptation, Warcraft. You guessed it, the film will be adapted from the cult PC game, World of Warcraft (WoW). Personally, I was never fond of WoW, but there is such a following behind the game, and it has gone on for so long, a film was of course inevitable. There still isn’t much information on the film.
Director:
First off, the film has a director, Sam Raimi. Raimi has directed other films such as Clockwork, Spider-Man 1 2 and 3, Drag me to Hell, along with many others.
Writers:
Raimi also announced in talks with MTV, that Robert Rodat will be writing the screenplay. Rodant, was one of the writers behind such films as Saving Private Ryan, and The Patriot. It has also been speculated that video game writer Chris Metzen (Warcraft 1, 2), will be working on the picture.
Title:
MTV has also reported a working title for the film, Warcraft: The Rise Of The Lich King. There is no official word on a title, and with the film only in pre-production, and a release date so far off, I expect the title to change.
Release Date:
Warcraft is currently scheduled to release in 2011. However, with the flick still being in pre-production, and moving very slowly, I personally am expecting a late 2011 release. I am sure that the producers are pushing for a summer release, but I just don’t see it happening.
Trailers and Posters:
There are still no official posters, or trailers for the film, but there are some pretty cool fan-made posters you can see below.
