HollywoodReporter announced today that the long awaited Spiderman musical has finally gotten a stage date.
The Broadway show titled Spider-Man, Turn Off the Dark is scheduled to debut in the early months of 2010 (Feb. 18 to be exact).
Now, you may have noticed that this isn’t exactly movie news. However, I really feel that the discussion to follow makes this news worthy enough for MovieGuys. You also may have noticed that I haven’t said much about the actual news. That is simply because I don’t care much about a Spiderman musical. However, what I do care about is the trend that this may set. Hypothetically, let’s say that this musical does extremely well. Personally, I think it will, but what will this do to the rest of the comic / super hero genre? Could we possibly be facing a barage of D.C. and Marvel comics themed musicals?
Here is my official prediction:
I, Stan Lee, predict that the Spiderman musical will release without a hitch, and will be extremely popular. After it’s first month or so being opened and thriving, I predict that we will here an announcement that there will be a TDK musical. It actually wouldn’t surprise me too much if we here news of a TDK musical in the very near future.
I would really like to know though, how does Stanley Martin Lieber feel about this? Or better yet, how do you guys feel about your favorite comicbook characters being transformed into a musical?
