Back in the day (1994), my generation witnessed a film that made cult classic status overnight. That film was the masterpiece stared by Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels called, Dumb and Dumber. The film was an instant classic, and people were quoting it for months, watching it over and over, and of course standing in line for the VHS tape. But while most smart, attractive people enjoyed the film, there was another group of people that absolutely hated it. We will not be associating with that group anymore.
Ultimately that group of haters ruined it for everybody, and it was 8ish years before a second film was released. Worst of all, it wasn’t a sequel, but rather a prequel. If that isn’t bad enough, it featured an entirely different cast. As you can guess (and probably already know) Dumb and Dumber: When Harry Met Lloyd was a disaster. It just wasn’t the same as what we saw in the original film. It had it’s funny moments, but it just didn’t have the same feel as the original. It was almost a completely different film. Honestly, it would have been better suited as flashback clips for the original, not an entire feature length film.
Now here we are 19 something years later, and we are FINALLY starting to see a SEQUEL develop, Dumb and Dumber To. Original cast, and everything! This shit is legit!
We don’t know much about the film, but here is the synopsis from IMDB:
20 years after the dimwits set out on their first adventure, they head out in search of one of their long lost children in the hope of gaining a new kidney.
Is your mind blown?! Well it should be! That one sentence raises a few questions and really lays down the plot for the film. Yeah, I know, it’s just one sentence, but let’s break it down into what we know:
- It is 20 years in the future (possible 2014 release date?)
- They are having another adventure. I am going to assume road trip, in another crazy car.
- One of them needs a kidney. A possible hospital escape could be included.
- They apparently have a kid? Well, one of them does. This actually just raises more questions than it answers.
I for one am very excited to see Dumb and Dumber To FINALLY come to light. What are your thoughts? Will it be different enough to be entertaining again? Or will it just be more of the same?
