I love a good comedy, especially when Owen Wilson is the main character. For some reason no matter what role he is playing he keeps me laughing. I honestly cannot think of an Owen Wilson film that sucked, and Drillbit Taylor is no different. It is the first movie I have seen in a while that lived up to it’s trailer.
So the basic plot of the movie goes like this:
- Three kids keep getting their ass beat at school by a deranged bully
- Kids hire body guard who happens to be a bum (Owen Wilson)
- Bum plans on robbing the kids and fleeing town
- Bum becomes emotionally attached and has to fight off other bums
If that doesn’t make for a great story I don’t know what does.
However, there is one major downside, that I just cannot overlook…. Owen Wilson’s nose! I have no clue why Owen Wilson doesn’t get his nose fixed. Honestly, he has no reason not to. He has enough money, and I am sure it would help him get more work if his face were more aesthetically pleasing. I guess he just work up one day and decided; “Hey, I am gonna walk around the rest of my life, looking like a truck ran into my face.” I guess that is his business.
Anyways, aside from Owen Wilson’s nose being distracting the film is great. It is funny from beginning to end, and I am certain that just about any Owen Wilson fan will be pleased. Just out of curiosity, does anyone know if he filmed this before, or after his little problem? I could look it up myself but I am way too lazy.
