Mila Kunis. You may remember her from her role in “That 70’s Show” as Jackie. She also had rather prominent roles in two films from the past year. She played the fun loving hotel employee Rachael Jansen in “Forgetting Sarah Marshall” and she had a very forgettable role in the disappointing “Max Payne,” as Mona Sax. Some of you may even recognize her voice from her work on “Family Guy” as Meg Griffin. To date, she hasn’t really had a breakout role. She has found herself a nice little niche as the adorable love interest in the world of comedy, but nothing that may launch her into the realm of serious actresses. But she may have just landed that role.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Kunis has just signed on to co-star with Denzel Washington in the post-apocalyptic thriller “The book of Eli.” Kunis will play Solara, a character whom was hired to betray Washington’s character during his quest to find a book that could save humanity. Her character eventually joins Washington’s character on his quest to save the world. This sure does sound like a run of the mill sci-fi thriller, but Denzel Washington’s involvement certainly gives this project instant credibility. And starring opposite Denzel would be a big break for Mila Kunis. This could be the role that really launches her career beyond the comedy world and into serious dramatic acting. This could be huge. And really, any excuse to see Kunis on screen is a good enough excuse for me!
