Avengers Assemble is set to be one of the most anticipated movies of the year as is written and directed by “Cabin in the Woods” screenwriter Joss Whedon and focuses on the world being under attack by deadly enemy Loki [brother of Thor], sets out to destroy earth, but when the shadowy organisation S.H.I.E.L.D, led by Nick Fury [Samuel L. Jackson], brings together a team of creatures with extraordinary powers to help put a stop to Loki and his unstoppable army.
The Avengers Assemble is an excellent comic book movie which is has non-stop action from start to finish and is great seeing all the Marvel heroes such as Captain America, Thor, Iron Man, Black Widow, Hawkeye and The Incredible Hulk, together in one movie.

The good:
The film’s main success is due to Joss Whedon, who scripted “Buffy the Vampire Slayer”, “Serenity” and “Angel” and has done the same here, as it must have been a lot of weight on his shoulders, scripting a story around a group of characters we have seen before and making them all come together and fit and it works terrifically as Whedon’s skill of combining action and comedy is both thrilling and playful and the film has a list of set pieces and comedy moments that linger.
The other of the film’s highlights are the characters themselves as it is a welcome sight to see Iron Man and Captain America fight over who is in charge and particularly Thor who returns to Earth to put a stop to his brother Loki and fits well in the film as Iron Man describes Thor as a modern day take on Shakespeare. The film never at any point fills bombarded by all these characters at once and never fills dominated by one particular character, everyone if given a chance to shine.
It is also clever with the fact that it links the story threads of the character’s previous Marvel movies that fill in vital plot gaps [stay in particularly to the end credits of Captain America for example] and it he makes it all fit. If this film was in the wrong hands it could have been a mess.
The bad:
The film is a great addition to the Marvel universe and is potential for more films in the future [stay for the end credits]. There’s not much to say about this film that is bad, all the characters worked excellently together, even Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow from “Iron Man 2” fits effortlessly into the story it never felt long and was constantly entertaining.
Conclusion:
Overall, Avengers Assemble is funny as well as action packed and contains great performances from it’s star-studded cast. This is set to be the best comic book movie since “The Dark Knight”. It’s definitely one of the best comic movies I have seen in a while.
