Hold onto your hats folks! With the writers guild strike ending work has begun on creating a remake of the 80’s action packed show, the A-Team. The A-Team is by far one of the best remakes that I have heard of in the past few years. When I first heard of the A-Team coming to the big screen, I was pumped. And then it happened, it was all ruined by one name, Ice Cube.
Apparently Ice Cube is negotiating for the part of B.A. (Bad Attitude) Baracas, which was formally played by Mr. T. Is it just me or is Ice Cube no replacement for Mr. T? I really don’t see how the film will be anything like the original series without Mr. T, but surely there could have been a better choice than Ice Cube.
Even though I feel Ice Cube has no place in the A-Team movie, I am still excited to see it. I am excited to see the modern twist put on the team. For example; In the original series there were always close-range shootouts, but nobody ever got shot. Another thing I am curious about is the setting. Will the film be set in the early 1970’s like the show, or in today’s time? So far all we have for a synopsis is this:
In 1972 a crack commando unit was sent to prison by a military court for a crime they didn’t commit. These men promptly escaped from a maximum security stockade to the Los Angeles underground. Today, still wanted by the government, they survive as soldiers of fortune. If you have a problem, if no one else can help, and if you can find them, maybe you can hire the A-Team.
For those of you who don’t recognize this bit, it is what is read during the introduction sequence to the show. A little vague, but leaves me hoping that not too much of a modern twist will be added to the film.
