Anyone who has ever been in any sort of relationship knows the rule. That one rule that you must strive to obey. The one that will make your relationship and your life a hell of a lot easier. Make your significant other happy, at all costs. Typically, if you make this your number one priority, your relationship will thrive and you will more than likely be rewarded for your troubles. With that in mind, and in honor of the most sacred holiday in the world of love and relationships, I bring to you five movies that are guaranteed to make your special lady happy. And a happy lady is a “giving” lady. A “willing” lady. I think you get what I’m talking about (cue funky 70’s love making music) Here they are, in no particular order:
Titanic – Yes we all know this one would be found on a list like this, so I’ll get the obvious out of the way first. A tried and true romantic classic. The love story is powerful, and it will undoubtedly touch your lady’s heart. She’ll “feel the heat” during some parts, and feel the uncontrollable thankfulness to have a man like you. That’s right. By the time this movie is over, she will be so sad that Rose Dewitt Bukater lost her one true love. She’ll look lovingly over at you, and if you time it right, her response will be everything you could possibly hope for. Just give her a slightly sad face (if you can force a tear to trickle from one eye…) then smile at her. She’ll be so happy that she is not like Rose, that she is with her love. Who else would actually WANT to watch a movie like this without being forced? It’ll be worth your trouble. Go on casanova, pick this one up!
Ever After – Drew Barrymore and love stories go together like strawberries and chocolate! No romantic films list would be complete without a film starring her. You’ll find that this particular film, a take on the ‘Cinderella’ , is actually a refreshing take on the story, if you’re into that type of thing. A completely different type of love story than the one you will find in Titanic, Ever After is more of a “true love will survive, no matter what” type story. This will be especially effective if you are presently in a long running relationship or marriage. At least Titanic had a giant ship ripping in two to keep you interested. This one may be “hard to swallow,” but it will pay off for you. Show her your sensitive side!
How to lose a guy in 10 days – Finally a film that you may be able to stomach! This film actually has it’s funny moments, and while I wouldn’t recommend watching it alone, watching with your lady friend shouldn’t be too bad. However, a quick warning, this might not be a good choice for all you jealous types. Your lady friend is sure to find herself hot and bothered, but it may just be because of Matthew McConaughey. If you can handle your lady oogling a big dumb piece of man meat with no acting ability, then this would be a fine choice. Added bonus: You can show that you are secure in your relationship if you can show that you are cool with this film and Mr McConaughey. You can do it!
The Notebook – “Two young lovers get forcibly separated. Young Allie waits for years to hear from her love, but when she doesn’t, she gets engaged to a handsome young soldier, but she stills harbors feelings for her first love. Does she choose her fiancee or her first love?” That’s about all I have to say about that. A real “true love conquers all” type story. A love triangle can toy with your lady friend’s emotions, in a good way. By the time this movie is over, she’ll be feeling the need to lock down her love, and she will “reward you” kindly for your troubles. Just make sure you don’t fall asleep! Ryan Gosling is a great actor, sure, but sometimes even a couple of great performances just aren’t enough to keep a man interested. She’ll know that, and thank you for it!
Serendipity – John Cusack and Kate Beckinsale. Finally, a true romance film where the guy will be doing most of the oogling! This film has typical John Cusack charm, so that is a plus. Most women believe in fate playing a big part in love, so they’ll love this film! And the story will leave your lady friend looking to lock down her true love, you! A film that is mostly for those who are thinking of taking that “next step.” The dreaded “M-word.” Watching this will tell you all you need to know about her thoughts on true love and fate. I’ve never met a woman whose seen this and didn’t like it. And if you’ve played your cards right up until this point, watching this with her will pay HUGE dividends!
There you go gentlemen. Five flicks that are guaranteed to make your special lady very happy. It’s so simple! Just head out to any video rental store and pick it up. Or head on over to any store that sells movies, and buy one of these classics for her. Make sure you have plenty of candles, ready to be lit. Get your pleasure food out, whatever that may be for her. Put on some real “love making” music. You could even sprinkle the floor with Rose petals (Or, substitute her favorite flower) It may sound cheesy, but it works. Remember to make your lady happy, especially on the most romantic day of the year. It’ll make your life a hell of a lot easier!
