I am sure by now that everyone has heard the news that TDK (The Dark Knight) is going to be re-released into theaters in the U.S. But I must wonder, why would Warner Brothers do this?
There has been much speculation as to why, be it for money, or for awards, or simply just to set records. I am just at a loss as to why Warner Brothers would seriously consider re-releasing the film. This is just absurd to me that a production company would do such a thing.
Maybe I am way out of line here, but I am kind of disappointed that TDK is going to be back in theaters. In my mind I would rather see Warner Brothers work and release another epic film, instead of trying to get rich off of just one title. TDK has already made enough money guys, it is time to move on.
But, I am sure that TDK will do very well in theaters the second time around. It surely won;t do as well as the first run, but i am sure it will still do well. But here comes my biggest concern. Is Warner Brothers starting a trend? Will we start to see a rush of re-releases by other companies looking to squeeze every penny out of there films? I really hope not. I am personally growing tired of the lack of originality in Hollywood. Lets stop with remakes and re-releases and make some new films.
