For all you DC Comics fans out there, we have some exciting sneak peaks at some recently released Green Lantern Concept art. Green Lantern: The Movie is scheduled for release on Jun, 17, 2011 and aficionados of the green clad Guardian Of The Universe are already gearing up for what is reported will be a cinematic presentation of the origins of Hal Jordan, the Green Lantern.
While we haven’t seen any Green Lantern Concept art that depicts Ryan Reynolds in all of his green glory, we’re sure it will be well worth the wait. We do however, have a preview of Abin Sur. Rumor has it that in an early script, Abin Sur’s ship is attacked by Legion and, as he’s dying, he passes his ring on to Hal Jordan. Abin Sur is the purple dude on the left. Rumor has it that the film will show Abin Sur’s ship going down in a blaze of glory, and, as he dies, he passes his Green Lantern ring to Hal Jordan.
Next is another conceptual look at Kilowog (The meat-head below) and Tomar-Ra (The fish-pig faced fellow bove), both expert trainers for the corps of aliens who are chosen to be Green Lanterns, Protectors of the Universe. I don’t think I’d like to meet Kilowog in a dark alley. This Green Lantern concept art makes him look rather gruesome. But they do say looks can be deceiving. Maybe he’s really just a big teddy bear?
The one piece of Green Lantern Concept Art that I can’t wait to see is an artist’s rendering of Sinestro. Coming off of his recent roll as Freddy Krueger in the remake of Nightmare On Elm Street, Jackie Earl Haley has been cast as Green Lantern’s arch nemesis. We’re hoping they put Sinestro in a green and red striped sweater to see if anyone makes the connection.
