First it was Apollo Creed, then there was Mr. T, and Ivan Drago, followed by Union Cane. Now Rocky is back, but this time he is fighting retirement! Rocky Balboa, also known as Rocky VI, is the ending to a series thirty years in the making. That’s right, Sylvester Stallone has stepped back into the ring, but this time he is a man with something to prove. Written, directed, and starred by Sylvester Stallone has endured yet another of his masterpieces.
When I first heard talks of another Rocky movie I was shocked. I found myself thinking, “why would you try to revive a character everyone has forgotten about?” As time wound down to the premier date of this movie, all of the hype had gotten to me and I was dying to see this movie. It had a rough start but it smoothed out towards the end, into an intense, inspirational movie. This movie will have you on the edge of your seat cheering, and then in tears, it is truly amazing.
Sylvester Stallone did what he had to do to put his character to rest. He brought Rocky back for one final “victory”, be it in the ring or at the box office. I am just waiting for his son to fulfill his legacy.
