I thought that the days of B movies had long since past and died the day Ed Wood left this mortal existence. However, it appears that B movies are slowly making a comeback, with films such as Zombie Strippers and this little schlock gem. While this is a genre of film I usually avoid in order to save any remaining brain cells to, the sheer curiosity overtook and here I am writing about it.
The reduced summarization of the film is simple, Guys in a rut + hot girls + rural cabin in the woods, plagued by an ancient curse that turns all girls into Lesbian Vampires = cheesy, campy fun. Enough said. There’s really not much to delve into here.
What initially drew me to the film was the Shaun of the Dead feel and look of it in the trailer. While it does follow true to this to a certain extent, I found myself a bit bewildered and disappointed half way through, as it lost some of that British wit that was used in the aforementioned Shaun of the Dead and delved headfirst into the absurd and ludicrous and lost much of what would have made it a great film.
The film is very much what you think when you see or hear the title, along the lines of other films like Giant Killer Tomatoes or Killer Space Clowns, pure purposeful nonsensical use of film stock. It was fun for the most part if you go into it with that expectation, don’t expect it to blow your mind onto the back room’s wall, but it will give a few chuckles and moments of pure realization that you are actually watching crap and enjoying it.
Overall, if you are looking for something that is fun and pure stupidity to kill 88 minutes, pick it up and stick into the DVD player. However if your viewing tastes are a bit more refined than avoid it like you would a Giant killer Tomatoe or Killer Space Clown.
