Wow. I don’t really have much to say on the subject except wow. Finally we have our first true look at JJ’s Enterprise. The photo was released by Entertainment Weekly. A new trailer is being shown before “Quantum of Solace.” I’ve found that when it comes to this take on the franchise, you either love it or hate it. Hardcore fans and fans of the original series cannot stand to see what Abram’s doing to the “reboot/remake” of this classic franchise. The casual fan doesn’t seem to care. I find myself despising Abram’s vision. It looks ridiculous. The characters look like metro-sexuals. And the bridge photo that was released earlier? Got to give it up to my man 790 for coming up with the classic new name “the iBridge.” Ready for the pic?

The shape of the support structure looks a lot like the Sovereign Class Enterprise NCC-1701 E… The Saucer section looks like an Amabassador Class version.
The nacelles screem (small penis) but maybe I’m too jaded, at this point…
I agree you Jon that its a little too Mac for my tastes. There’s gotta be an Apple logo on that hull somewhere ??? Lol
Sure, sure. I’m not liking it. There is definitely a part of the ship that appears, well, it appears falic. This movie has disappointed me at every possible opportunity. Each new photograph makes me more and more upset. I am a fan of the original series, despite my age. I sure hope I’m wrong. But this looks bad.

They really nailed the original bridge, uniforms, look, vibe everything…
Why does Abrams have to blow millions of dollars on over the top, high tech looking plastic shiny tech that distracts all the old school fans as a way to say F you, its 2008…

Also I love how since TNG there has to be some type of blue lights on the nacelles.
When those bussard collectors heat up red its gonna look like a big Flying police saucer… :^)
I’ll hold off my opinion until the first trailer comes out tomorrow. Keep in mind that this ship is one of the ships built after the one on Enterprise, so the blue aspects fit. I would like to see this ship destroyed and the one from the original tv series introduced. maybe it will.

From what I’ve read so far on the plot, timetravel is a heavy theme in this film,,, therefore this will be an alternate Federation reality…
Will it bring in an Alternate fanbase,,, I doubt it.
Yes, please do. And you’re right 790 about the time travel theme. We are all getting up in arms, and this COULD just be one of multiple versions of the Enterprise. Though I’d doubt it.
Do you think we’ll get to see the Enterprise in flight in the new trailer? I’ve heard about the part with Kirk and the car chase, but I don’t know what else will be featured in the trailer. This has got me seriously excited now. I guess I’ll go see the Bond movie.

I have a contact that actually saw the trailer that was originally going to come out with “Indiana Jones”.
He described it as more construction footage on the Enterprise, he also said that all the Star Trek teaser trailers (total of 4) were going to show the Big E being built.
He explained that the last 2 teaser trailers were going to be Phaser testing and warpdrive activation…
I recently caught up with him, and he told me that the suits at Paramount scrapped all of them and decided to outsource the trailers…
At this point who knows what there gonna show ???
Personally I want a space based action packed Roddenberry style film,,, not a trip down the wonder years of Starfleet academy.
One of the problems of an alternate reality is that it eliminates everything that call “canon”.
I have a feeling Captain Pike’s fate is also going to radically change.

Sounds like they had some cool little teasers. I would’ve liked to see that. I do worry about time travel ideas. That basically gave Abrams the ability to do whatever he wanted with the story, he could change anything. It will bring in new fans, but alienate old ones. And there sure as hell are a lot of us out there JJ. It’s not too late to fix it…
Well I’ve been burned before on this film,,, but this time I think my source is up to date…(No time-travel pun intended)
