Johnny Depp as jack Sparrow
I was really hoping it wouldn’t happen, but Pirates of the Caribbean 4 has entered development and guess who has been pitched for the lead role? Surprise surprise, Johnny Depp.
It is quite obvious that Depp would be pitched for another Pirates film, but I was really hoping a fourth film would never happen. Personally I am still shocked that production is going on with a fourth, but seeing as how it has been a cash cow, I kind of expected it also. It is all about the money anymore and not the movies.
So far I have really enjoyed the Pirates series, asides from number 3, but I still don’t think there should be a fourth.
Reason #1: The third film really sucked. As a finale to the trilogy it was acceptable, but this told me that the franchise either needed a revamp, or to end it. Since revamps always end bad, I would prefer they just end it. I really didn’t want to see the Pirates series turn into another out of control series of sequels like so many other films in the past. If it were up to me (which it isn’t) they would have been done with the first one.
Reason #2: Pirates of the Caribbean 4 will be a spin off. There is no other way to put it. I believe that two things really made the first two films great, and that was the cast, and the plot. The third film had a great plot, but so much effort was put into special effects that it took away from that. I know it left many people scratching their heads. It took me a second watch to really get the whole story.
Reason #3: Keirra Nightly will NOT be in the fourth film. She made it very clear during the filming and release of At World’s End that she would not be involved with any more Pirates of the Caribbean films. How will a fourth edition be without one of the leading roles? I believe Disney is setting themselves up for an awful round of sequels if you ask me.
So here is what I propose. Instead of making another Pirates of the Caribbean flick, let’s see a Jack Sparrow movie. Seriously, let’s not continue the franchise and let Depp spin off into his own series of films. To me this would be acceptable. From what I have read Johnny Depp is the main reason that people want to see a fourth, so why not make a pirate movie just about him?

Sounds good to me,,, the 3rd Pirates film was horrible.
I’ve heard that Depp is getting over 56mil to play Sparrow again…

Yes, I also heard that he is being paid 50+mil. that is 1/6 of the total budget of the last film.

Johnny could play Jack Sparrow for the rest of his life and that is still the only time I will go to the movies, when he is the star. Remember, Johnny is a superstar and he should make any amount of money they will pay a superstar.

yes, johnny depp is a great actor. I really can only think of one bad movie he has ever been in, the secret window. however, just because he isn’t in a movie is no reasin for me not to go to the theater. but it is my job to watch movies ;)

The only movies I’ve seen Johnny Depp in be Pirates of The Caribbean, (Sorry, I ment to say is but back in the old days, people ask things like, “Where be my book?” or things like that.) Not to mention that the first movie i’ve seen Orlando Bloom in was Lord of the Rings but he did better in the first three movies of Pirates of the Caribbean. And Geoffery Rush is also great in Pirates and I’m glad (and/or hoping) that he and Johnny Depp are both in the forth film in the next three years from now. (But go easy on Johnny Depp, he had a tuff life even as a child but at least he’s 5 years younger than my dad who turned 50 last month) Johnny Depp is my true Love in my mind and heart for like for some strange reason but I feel like he and I have been in love before as I grow older since i’m 20 years old.

hey, I never said anything against Johnny. he is one of my favorite actors (Fear and Loathing, Blow, Edward scissor hands).
However, the pirates franchise would end. if it continues it should do so as a different title and series. Perhaps we are ready for the Jack Sparrows stories.

My Thoughts on Pirates 4, call it what it really is, Jack Sparrow on his own again. That suits me just fine, Could not stand Orlando Bloom, Could not Stand Keira Knoightley either, two charactors I would never want to see again. I enjoyed Geoffrey Rush so maybe do something with the two of them.
I am all for something like that, Just don’t bring that shitty love story crap into it.
A Side note, i do wish Hollywood would make more PIrate Movies.

well they are making a forth and johnny does want to keep to a special pirate that he played he helps the crew as well as acting he just loves his character jack sparrow hes going to find himself going to hell on the other side of earth
