I just wanted to let everyone know that all of the comments will be back shortly. We are in the process of transferring them to the new comment system and it is taking longer than expected.

  2. 790

    January 25, 2009 at 5:31 pm

I watched “Burn After Reading” last night.
The film reinforced my opinions on Pitt and Clooney.

One of those film you watch once and forget.

  3. Stan-Lee

    January 25, 2009 at 6:15 pm

I watched it some time ago, and decided it was too boring to even get a review.

  4. 790

    January 25, 2009 at 7:12 pm

790’s PICKS THE WORST “A” LIST ACTORS FOR 2008…

I call um like I see um,,,
    Men:
    1- Brad Pitt
    2- George Clooney
    3- Tom Cruise
    4- Leonardo Dicaprio
    5- Jamie Foxx

    Women:
    1- Angelina Jolie
    2- Kate Winslet
    3- Kim Basinger
    4- Eva Longoria Parker
    5- Jennifer Gardner

Honorable mentions go out to “C” listers, Seth Rogen and Jennifer Aniston…

  5. 790

    January 25, 2009 at 7:53 pm

Yeah I meant Will Smith not Jamie Foxx… :)

  6. Jon Stephens

    January 25, 2009 at 7:43 pm

Brutal. Very Funny, but still brutal.

Was Jaimie Foxx even starring in anything in 08? I don’t even remember, that’s how bad he is. I don’t think he qualifies as an “A” list actor.

Angelina Jolie is the most over rated actress of ALL TIME!!!

  7. Jon Stephens

    January 25, 2009 at 8:04 pm

Oh yeah of course. Will Smith should be on that list most years though, in my opinion

  8. 790

    January 25, 2009 at 10:14 pm

On third thought, I think I’m gonna stay with Jamie Foxx, even though he didn’t have a film in 2008 he still really sucks in my book !!!

Add Will Smith, Jada Pinkett Smith and there kid for honorable mention. The first family of crap actors !!!

  9. 790

    January 26, 2009 at 1:03 am

I’m gonna stick with the Smiths…

    I love the Baldwins!!!
And the Wayans are pretty funny. :^)

  10. Jon Stephens

    January 26, 2009 at 12:37 am

What about the Wayans? I think they should be in consideration for first family of crap actors.

I thought about suggesting the Baldwin’s, but I think Alec just might be good enough to make up for the rest of them.

  11. Metallicat79

    January 26, 2009 at 10:43 am

I had an interesting weekend movie wise, On Friday my wife tuned into the Other boleyn sister, she thought it was Ok, if we would have seen more of Scarlett Johansen ;) it would not have been a total waste of my time. Absolute garbage! What a shot fest, even Bana, who is n ormally a decsent actor was craptastic. Portman should stick to roles where she either shaves her head, or or prances around in some Ming Dynasty get up.

But i did manage to rectify this travesty and bring back the testostorone into the house, and we watched Death Race, all in all an enjoyable flick if you are not looking for a well devloped plot, but rather mayhem and mindless action.

  12. Metallicat79

    January 26, 2009 at 10:48 am

Baldwins over Wayans hands down, the only Wayons brother I really njoy is Damon. But thats just me. They are funny, but its not really my type of humor.

And when I say Baldwins, really its just Alec.

Did anyone mention the Quaids at all?? Randy and Dennis??

or how about the Bridges?? Beau, Jeff and the late Lloyd??

Or the Estivez/Sheen Clan? Martin, Charlie and Emilio?

I’ll stop now before I get bitch slapped.

  13. Metallicat79

    January 26, 2009 at 2:19 pm

I think i may have misunderstood what the conersation was about, My bad. I was just listing other movie families. I would never EVER say Jeff Bridges is not awesome, Big Lebowski is an awesome flick, a classic if you will. I am a Jeff Bridges fan. Not to mention he was totally kick ass sinister in Iron Man as Obidiah Stane.

In all hinesty, i did have a small ray hope that Tother Bolyn gurl would at the very least provide some descent acting, What was Eric Bana and Scarlett Johanssen thinking when they signed on?Bana is normally a pretty good actor, he was terrible as Henry Tudor and Scarlett Johanssen, she may not be the most talented actress in the world, but she has potential, plus I think she is smokin hot, kicks Jessica Alba’s ass IMO.

  14. Metallicat79

    January 26, 2009 at 2:37 pm

with Deathrace, I actually found myself wanting to see more, when it ended, i sat there dissapointed there was not more shot being blown up. I would have liked to have seen maybe a longer race with more racers.

  15. Jon Stephens

    January 26, 2009 at 2:09 pm

The wayans aren’t that funny. Shawn and Marlon are, but the rest of them stink. And Shawn/marlon are not funny enough to overpower the rest of the clan, in my book.

But I like Dennis Quaid, and don’t you dare imply that Jeff Bridges is not completely awesome. Just go watch The Big Lebowski again Metallicat. You’ll change your tune. But I’ll give you the Sheen/Estivez clan. They suck.

Metallicat, you shouldn’t be surprised that the Other Boleyn girl was total garbage. It is a chick flick, and most chick flicks that don’t have any humor in them stink big time. Deathrace… The original was better, but the Statham remake was okay.

  16. Metallicat79

    January 26, 2009 at 3:18 pm

The orginal I saw when i was like 10. Needless to say its been a while.

BTW, side note, I meant no disrespect to Jeff Bridges.

  17. Jon Stephens

    January 26, 2009 at 2:45 pm

Have you seen the original Metallicat? You’d like it.

  18. Jon Stephens

    January 26, 2009 at 4:24 pm

    OK, cool.

The Big Lebowski is one of my all time favorite comedies. I wish I could be the dude. That will go down as the role that defines his career.

  19. Metallicat79

    January 26, 2009 at 11:32 pm

where did all the cmments go?

  20. Stan-Lee

    January 26, 2009 at 11:58 pm

They are actually all there, you just cant see them lol.

I am upgrading the comment system and not everything is going as smoothly as I would like, expect all of the comments to be back in a few hours (hopefully). But rest assured, they are all there.

  21. Jon

    January 27, 2009 at 12:44 am

I really like the look of this new system. It's pretty cool, and I think it'll be just fine as soon as everything is up and running smoothly. If you were to ask me right now, I'd say that if things are all in working order, no issues, then I'd vote to keep this system.

  22. Stan-Lee

    January 27, 2009 at 3:18 am

Ok guys, all of the issues are fixed and the comments are on there way back. Thanks for waiting :)

  23. Metallicat79

    January 27, 2009 at 1:13 pm

what are the numbers beside everyones name? is that how many posts i hae done?

    • Stan-Lee

      January 27, 2009 at 11:20 pm

The number is basically your reputation. It factors in the number of comments you have made, the length of your comments, and how many thumbs up, and thumbs down you have relieved.

      • Jon Stephens

        January 28, 2009 at 12:44 am

Now that I didn't know. I thought it was just about the number of comments you make and the length of them.

OKAY, hook it up on the thumbs up guys! Please? ;)

  24. JD Nobody

    January 27, 2009 at 5:24 pm

I may be a tad late, but…really? Will Smiff is a bad actor? The guy has done a little bit of everything. Now this latest one (7 Pounds) does seem like he's trying to cash in on Pursuit of Happyness (Though Happyness was well acted and had a solid story, I wanted to kill myself while watching it…they boy lost his Capt'n America!!! Come on! Could it be any more depressing?)

I'm not saying he's great, but he wouldn't be on the list of actors I hate. I've enjoyed most of the movies he's been in. Enemy of the State, Men in Black, Hitch, Bad Boys, Wild Wild Wes…wait a minute! How did that piece of crap get in here?! Will somebody go slap him for making that film?

  25. Jon Stephens

    January 27, 2009 at 5:36 pm

Personally I think Will Smith is over rated. I like his movies most of the time, but I don't think he is as great as most people think.

JD – I just shot you guys an email about the MovieGuys myspace, if one of you guys could get back to me on that, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks.

Men in Black was a great movie. I like to think it is somewhat based on a real life agency…

  26. Jon Stephens

    January 27, 2009 at 5:38 pm

Yes Metallicat, that is related to the amount of comments you have made all over the web on sites that use the intense debate system. Apparently the higher the number, the better commenter you are. You get points based on how long your comment is, or something like that.

  27. momo

    January 27, 2009 at 9:00 pm

ok here i go with my comments about things u guys are done with already.

    1. angelina jolie- i like her because shes adopting children from 3rd world countries and giving them a life they never wouldve gotten if they stayed where they were born.

    2. i like eva longoria parker cuz i love desperate housewives and her character gabby is awesome.

    3. death race was a good action movie for me surprisingly and thats only because the whole time i was comparing it to the video game twisted metal black. minion vs. roadkill anyone??

    4. stephen baldwin is the best baldwin cuz of bio-dome.

    5. johnny depp is way better than will smith (i know ive already said that but i had to do it again). and he has NOT done a bit of everything… he plays the same role in every movie hes ever been in with the exception of pursuit of happiness (which was good ill admit) and fresh prince. now johnny depp on the other hand HAS done a bit of everything… hes picking up a new character in every movie hes in. THATS TALENT.

    6. the one thing i dont like about the new comments is that i have to add my name and email every time i post now and i cant for the life of me find where to sign up. maybe thats just the blonde part of me but i cant find it…

    7. LEO IS AWESOME TOO!!! maybe i like him cuz he was my first celeb crush… lol oh man… he cover my binder in 4th grade haha

    8. men in black was awesome!!! i was totally thinking about the sugar water part yesterday during bio… i started laughing and people started starring at me.

    im awesome… lol

  28. Metallicat79

    January 27, 2009 at 9:22 pm

I guess i can come to some sort of defense for Wil Smith.

So heres the deal with Wil IMO, When it comes to his acting he plays two roles, The All American, gonna save the world type (side note, why does it always have to be America that saves the world, just once i would love to see amovie where the Canadians ride in on our big armored Canadian Goose and blow up shit. But alas, we shall always be the US Sidekick, but not a gay side kick like Robin, more like Kato from Green Hormet he is much coolness) and the other role he plays his the serious down on his luck, can't change the world type. Now thats all fine and dandy, and he is good at what he does, he is a sure fire box office draw.

  29. Metallicat79

    January 27, 2009 at 9:23 pm

I firmly believe and I think Jon may have mentioned this elsewhere, or I am losing my mind at work again, but that any actor that needs to define themselves, should play a villian. Will Smith needs to put himself out there and be the bad guy. Tom Cruise did it in Collateral and…………….. this is a bad example, he has not been right in the head since, so never mind. But the true measure of an actor, IMO, is his abilty to diversify his roles. Gary Oldman, theres a good example, I knew there was one somewhere, has made a career of playing the vollian, but he started to divesify himself and started playing the good guys (James Gordon and Sirius Black). So Will Smith may be a talented action and Drama star, but he needs to go that much further. I think I made sense, let me know if I didn't.

  30. Metallicat79

    January 27, 2009 at 9:31 pm

BTW Alec is the better Baldwin, Based simply on the fact he was in Beetlejuice. Though Stephen did make me piss my pants laughing in Bio Dome, Beetlejuice, was just that much better. (Burton fan, so I am a little biased, sorry Momo)

  31. Jon Stephens

    January 27, 2009 at 9:58 pm

Way to be late to the party MOMO!!!

Angelina Jolie may not be a bad person, but she sure as hell is a terrible actress and immensely over rated. Will Smith's movies are okay, and I guess he is an okay actor, but I feel the same way about him that I do about Jolie. OVER RATED!

BioDome was funny, but that doesn't change the fact that Stephen Baldwin is a certifiable retard.

Gary Oldman. Great Villain. Great Actor. Nuff said!

    @790, Jon
So i finally found a web site where i can view videos and such, and i watched the first half of Ep. 1 S 1 of Dexter, So far its grabbed my interest. i actaully can't wait to finish it. Thanks for the recmendation guys.

  34. Jon Stephens

    January 28, 2009 at 3:41 pm

Oh yeah, no worries. Dexter is fantastic, the show is really well done. And it is very mentally engaging. I love it.

Check for these shows on that web site, they are fantastic too: Eureka, Sons of Anarchy, and Burn Notice. They are all can't miss shows, in my opinion. I'm pretty sure you'll like them.

I guess we can expect to see a lot less of you now Metallicat… Have fun!

  35. Metallicat79

    January 28, 2009 at 3:51 pm

Between that and a long tax season ahead of me, nice knowing, have a nice life and I will see you all in May, LOL

  36. Metallicat79

    January 28, 2009 at 3:52 pm

I will make an effort to pop by as often as I can though.

  37. Jon Stephens

    January 28, 2009 at 7:16 pm

Hey man, no worries. You don't owe us anything Metallicat. Everybody has work to do, some more than others.

All of this, this is for fun.

You shall be missed lol ;)

  38. Metallicat79

    January 28, 2009 at 7:43 pm

I will need some one who is an awesome Eulogizer, to do an awesome Eulogy for me, any takers?? Hehehe

  39. momo

    January 29, 2009 at 6:45 pm

    @metallicat79

ive never seen dexter, but it looks interesting… maybe ill set the tivo for it if my brothers dont stop recording it for the office, or south park, or the simpsons, or anything else that they never watch but have seen a million and a half times…

  40. Metallicat79

    January 29, 2009 at 6:56 pm

Or are you here to tell me what a bad eugoogoolizer I am?
    Matilda: A what?
Derek Zoolander: A eugoogoolizer… one who speaks at funerals.
    [Matilda looks at Derek confused]
Derek Zoolander: Or did you think I was too stupid to know what a eugoogooly was?
    God I love Zoolander.

  41. Metallicat79

    January 29, 2009 at 6:57 pm

I still have not finished that episode of Dexter. cant get the time. It sucks.

  42. Metallicat79

    January 29, 2009 at 6:59 pm

Does anyone know what the name is and who sings the song at the end of the Bourne Supremacy?

  43. Jon Stephens

    January 29, 2009 at 8:30 pm

Sorry Metallicat, but I can't remember the song. I'll look into it for you.

And sorry again, but I thought Zoolander was one of the dumbest movies I've ever seen. Ben Stiller… Zoolander says everything you need to know about Ben Stiller.

  44. 790

    January 29, 2009 at 11:46 pm

    Make time for Dexter Metallicat

  45. Stan-Lee

    January 29, 2009 at 11:43 pm

Sorry guys, had to disable the IntenseDebate system. I really liked it, but I have found a flaw in the system that I just can’t “Let Go.” So until I can talk with the support team and figure out a solution we are back to the old system :)

  46. Metallicat79

    January 30, 2009 at 8:08 am

    @790
Yes Master, I sense a great disturbance in the force which can only be corrected by watching Dexter. As your young Padawan Learner, I have much to learn about the ways of the force.
    LOL

    Movie quote of the week…
(Anyone think they know the film this came from?)
    ^
“General Veer’s, prepair your troops for a surface attack”
    ^

    This one should be easy,,,

  48. Jon Stephens

    January 30, 2009 at 7:52 pm

Dexter is a great show. Really a unique take on… um… I guess cop shows? It’s so good I don’t know how to classify it!

Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back

Did I get it right? What do I win?!?

  49. 790

    January 30, 2009 at 8:30 pm

Yeah Dexter is the one of those shows that you root for the damaged serial killer.
Its definitely a unique idea, and a well written show. One that could only be done right on cable.

You guessed it Jon,! I’m working on making this a weekly post. Stay tuned.
