“Inferno” is the third entry into the Dan Brown franchise and sees Ron Howard return to direct and Tom hanks reprise his role as the protagonist Robert Langdon.
The story takes place in Italy where Langdon wakes up in an Italian hospital with amnesia, he teams up with Dr. Sienna Brooks [Felicity Jones-Star Wars: Rogue One], and together they must race across Europe against the clock to stop a deadly global plot.
The Good:
Inferno delivers everything you expect and hope for from a film adapted from Dan Browns best selling novel. Its fast paced, engrossing and thrilling. It also sees Ron Howard back in the frame as director after directing the previous instalments “The Da Vinci Code” and “Angels and Demons” so the franchise is in safe hands.
Tom Hanks reprises his role As symbolist Robert Langdon who this time round is more vulnerable then the previous instalments as his memory is lost and has a race against time to stop a global threat. Hanks still displays the same charismatic presence that makes him one of the best Hollywood actors working today.
Felicity Jones who is the starring lead character in the upcoming “Star Wars: Rogue One”, is a great match for Landon here as the two characters gel so well together and would work great in future stories. She plays a character who is out of her depth and caught up in the midst of all the action.
The two leads are supported by a excellent cast including Ben Foster, Irrfan Khan [“Life of Pi”], Omar Sy [“Jurassic World”] and a script that offers mystery, suspense, action and lots of twists and turns that will have you guessing until the end.
The bad:
“Inferno”, takes some time to get started but once the story sets in it never lets up and moves at a breakneck pace. Some of the characters feel underdeveloped too and become disposable throughout the story.
Conclusion, overall “Inferno” is an engaging thriller that is action-packed, thrilling, filled with suspense and jaw-dropping locations. It moves at a breakneck pace, and ver lets up until the end, Dan Brown fans will be thrilled and satisfied and have a lot to be excited about.
