Hey everyone! I hope that everyone enjoyed the Watchmen! And if you haven’t seen the Watchmen I highly recommend that you do, as I am sure a lot of the discussions here on MovieGuys will be referencing the Watchmen, just a hunch.
On a side note, this is going to be our last Weekly Rundown to take place on Sunday. From this day forward, the weekly rundown will begin on Monday.
*Update*
This is the very last Weekly Rundown. We are releasing a new section of the site this Saturday, which will make the rundown obsolete. However, this rundown will be available for the next week.

Yessss… Watchmen was wicked. Quite a surreal experience, being a die-hard fan for over a decade. I’m going again on Tuesday so I can see it with less-distracted (and more awake) eyes.
My wife bought me t he motion comic today too, so I’m about to get into that :)

I was at a late night private showing. definitely need to see it more awake.
on a side note did you get my email the other day ryan? just curious because I hadn’t heard back, been having some slight email issues here at movieguys and wanted to be sure you received it.

If I had some, I honestly would if it would get you to go see it Metallicat. I’d consider that a worth while investment.
I’ve seen Watchmen 4 times already, and I love it more with each viewing!

Can anyone answer me this question:
Why don’t they make crime films like Dirty Harry anymore?? That was so well done and awesome, made back when they knew what they were doing. there are a couple that actaully do come close, like The Untouchables and Heat. Not much else. That sucks!

Hey Stan… haven’t seen any email… ?

I just saw the trailer for the new Michael Mann flick “Public Enemies”. I thought it looked pretty cool, but I think Depp is a great actor, so with “Gansters, Depp, Mann, and Indiana” I’m good to go!
Check it out when you get a chance.

Public Enemies trailer was ran in front of Watchmen, so I’ve seen it a couple of times now. It looks pretty good. I’ll see it. Depp and Bale are two of my favorite actors. Hopefully, Bale talks like a normal human being in this one…

I recently ran a little snippet at GKS with regards to the Trailer. I myself am stoked, this is going to be all of my favorite stuff rolled into one big bad ass gangster movie.

I’m not sure how I missed it, but I saw the “new” Transformers: Rise of the Fallen trailer last night on HDNet. Wow it does look pretty freakin’ sweet. It shows quite a bit more action than the Super Bowl trailer did. If you haven’t had a chance to check out this new trailer that was apparently released back on Feb 16th then head over to Yahoo Movies and watch it in glorious HD.
The “Constructicon” transformation was… AWE…wait for it….SOME!

I have a problem. I watched the Transformers 2 trailer when it was released, and was not excited about it. Watched it agaon yesterday, and I still feel the same way. I loved the first one, thought it was exciting and fun to watch. I know i should be excited for this one, and I try to get excited for it, but I just can’t get excited about it. I really can’t nail it down as to why, but its not making me want to go and spend the cash to go see it. I don’t know how to fix this problem.

I just watched the baxter last night. I was amazed. it had everything i wanted… every member of stella, and their whole crew including (but not limited to) liz banks, PAUL RUDD, Zac ornut, and joe lo triglio. i loved it. even that demon that was gay with micahel ian black in reaper was in it! i laughed during every scene. its my new favorite movie… maybe this will stir up some convo cuz this weeks rundown is kinda dead. prolly cuz everyones talking about watchmen in other places >.<

I know! It has been dead on the rundown the last couple of days. Bummer.
The Baxter was actually very funny. Guys, don’t just ignore momo because she is clearly obsessed with Stella. The Baxter is actually pretty funny.
Metallicat – I really don’t understand why you enjoyed the first Transformers, yet don’t feel excited about the new one. To me, it looks way better than the first. More action, more robots, and a little darker. What more could you ask for? Why exactly don’t you like the new trailer? Anything specific, or just don’t feel good about it?

@jon
I find the trailer redundant, like we have seen it all before, it does not really blow my mind away like the firt one did. And I know I should feel good about and should be excited to go and see it, but I just don’t.

Well that makes sense. I guess the first one had a bit of that “I can’t believe we are finally seeing this on the big screen!” to it. I can see how that would diminish the excitement for the sequel, especially if you are not a big fan of the source material.

Has anyone seen the previews for the new Will Ferrell show on HBO East bound and Down? I just saw it today and it look s hillarious!
March 14, 2009
#20
Yeah I saw it. That guy is hilarious. If you haven’t seen it, you need to check out “The foot fist way”
It’s an awkward comedy about a lame ass karate instruction who is full of himself, and I think he’s stuck in the late 80’s/early 90’s. It’s hilarious!
I may just order HBO just to watch the show.
March 14, 2009

I thought it looked good. I Tivo’d it last night and am going to watch it right now lol.

jon… i saw the new reaper. it blew my mind! ok, well maybe it wasnt comepletely mind blowing but it was a really good episode! i totally knew that demon was a girl when i read the description on the guide. it was really funny. :]

OH!!! and i finally got my copy of sanwiches and cats (showalters comedy cd). Y’ALL HAVE TO GET IT. i laughed so hard i cried off all my eye makeup! especially during the sandwich commandments! :D
maybe i am a little obsessed…
March 14, 2009

That episode was freaking hilarious!!! I wish more people would watch Reaper, I think it’s going to get canceled this season. Sock has already been cast as the lead on a new FOX comedy, so that’s a bad sign.
You are obsessed, that’s for sure. But the only sandwich related cd I will be buying is the new Psychostick album titled “Sandwich.”

WELL SHIT!!! why do they always cancel the shows i like?? is my taste in humor really THAT unique? that sucks >.<

Wow, I didn’t even know there was a Robocop series. I’ll look into it for you.

Ok guys, just a few things.
1. I went and watched “Last House on the Left” this weekend. I had every intention on writing a review, however I just couldnt bring myself to do it. As far as the story went, it was pretty predictable, but what movie isnt anymore. It took a long time to really build into a real story, but the ending was great. THe action in the final act was also amazing. However, a very graphic rape scene absolutely tainted the entire film for me. I can view a lot of crap in a film, but I guess i just found my breaking point. I had no desire to even finish the film, but I did. All in all it could have done without it. I could have handled if it ‘hinted’ that it had happened, but I just couldnt handle the approach. Perhaps others arent bothered by that, I just wanted to throw out my 2 cents.
2. You may have noticed that there is no new rundown this week. That is because there arent going to be anymore. But dont worry, they are being replaced by something bigger and better. We will just keep this one going until this weekend when the new section is launched :)

Wondered if anyone else had heard of Scarlett Johansson joining the cast of Iron Man 2 as the Black Widow. Also during this weeks Podcast we touched on the fact that Mickey Rourke and Sam Rockwell are joining the cast as well. They are talking Rourke as Whiplash, though they made mention of combining elements of the Crimson Dynamo with the character Whiplash!
What do you think of these developments?
March 17, 2009
#30
I had heard about it, still not quite sure what I think of it. I honestly would’ve preferred Emily Blunt. I’m not sure if Johansen has the chops to pull it off, but I guess all you need to play the widow is big boobs, skin tight leather outfit and red hair. I bet that because of this, she’s not even going to be russian.
But I have to trust Jon Favreau. He earned it with IM. Anything he is cool with, I am cool with!
March 17, 2009

Just be gald it wasn’t Lindsy “i’m gonna win and Oscar before 23″ Lohan, That would really piss me off, but Favreau has won me over, and would not make that mistake.

Most of the SNL Digital shorts are pretty freakin funny. “Punched in the face right before eating” still cracks me up when I watch it. They have a lot of them posted over on HULU.com (thought they have pulled the “Dear Sister” short with Shia Labeouf).
If you haven’t checked out that site, you should do so. You can watch clips, movies, tv series, cartoons, etc. It’s a pretty cool little site. Lots of SNL and Family Guy stuff. (It’s not 100% movie related, but I wanted to share.)

Hulu is awesome. I just wish they’d get more content from some of the other major networks. Still, if I miss an episode of one of my favorite shows, chances are that I could watch it there, and that’s pretty cool.

Woah… hey gang…looking forward to the new feature.
My two cents: Portman is a goddess. Canada sucks for not having access to Hulu.
March 18, 2009
#42
You can’t access Hulu in Canada? How the hell do they prevent a whole country from accessing 1 little site?
Portman is not only beautiful, but she can act too.
March 18, 2009
#43
To quote Metallica “Sad but true” no hulu in Canada :(
Portman is beautiful, even with a shaved head. I forgive her for the travesty that was The other Bolyn girl (or wahtever it was called) GUYS Don’t ever watch it, AVOID AT ALL COSTS!! And with regards to Star wars I like to pretend that It was Keira Knightly that did it, because she sucks and I can live with that.

Just wanted to let everyone here know, we will be trying out a new idea for news updates posts. There are a lot of little stories that have been ignored in the past because they just weren’t big enough to warrant an entire post. To rectify that, we will be beginning to do brief updates for those little stories. So expect to see some really short, maybe two paragraph posts. Also, we will be starting a regular mid-week post to cover everything else. You deserve to know ALL of the news, not just the big news.
Thanks everyone!

Just wanted to share with the WATCHMEN Fans…You should check out CreativeScreenwriting.com in the podcast section and listen to the podcast from 3/13/09. It is the interview with Co-Writers David Hayter and Alex Tse.
It’s a great and insightful listen.
