Rumor: FX Talks Archer Movie!

Let me just start by saying that this bit of news is 100% RUMOR at this point in time. I received this tip from a MovieGuys reader, and I am unable to confirm this bit of news.

Recently FX announced that they had ordered a second season of their new animated series, Archer. Archer has averaged nearly 1.2 million viewers for each airing. This is pretty good, seeing as how the show is aired late, on Thursday nights.

FX announced last month that they had ordered season 2, another 13 episodes of the series. According to my anonymous tip, FX is talking of making Archer a made for TV movie, either as a season opener, or as a season closer. It is possible, that the film would just be 2 or 3 episodes tied together, much like the first Family Guy film (Stewie Griffin: The Untold Story).

Personally I think an Archer movie would be amazing! I have followed the series from day one, and have loved every episode. The show has a unique style of humor, and is the perfect mix of animated action, jokes, and sex appeal.

If you are a fan of the show, what do you think of the idea of a movie? And if you haven’t seen the show, I highly recommend checking it out.

Archer airs Thursday nights at 10:00 PM (eastern) on FX.

The fans really would like to see the movie as well. Can you imagine it…Jon Hamm as Archer. Vivica Foxx as Lana. Ms. Meryl Streep as Mallory Archer!!!!

My only issue would be Jon Hamm as Archer. Yeah, he has the look down, but it just wouldn’t be the same without Jon Benjamin’s voice. But on the other side, Jon Benjamin would make a terrible live-action Archer. Perhaps Jon Hamm could play the visual part, and Jon Benjamin can do voice over. Has such a thing been done? An entire live action film with one actor acting, and another doing the voice work?
