Captivity

Cap-tiv-ity: the state or period of being held, imprisoned, enslaved, or confined…..Now that you know the definition, check out the movie! This little horror flick was an unexpected mind freak in disguise. I had no idea it would be that disturbingly pleasing. For me you can definitely put it in the category of sick and twisted along with the “Saw” trilogy and “Hostel.” If you’re a fan of that kind of movie please consider seeing Captivity, it’s worth a visit to your local cinema. It’s not quite the gauge of those movies but had the essence of them. It stars “The Girl Next Door” chick Elisha Cuthbert, not a bad piece of eye candy if I must say so myself, and some other no name actor not worth mentioning…sorry ha! Normally I’m not pleased by a Lionsgate horror film but this one was an exception to that stereotype.

There are several reasons why I enjoyed this movie. One is the fantastic sound track at the beginning (halfway serious). The music set a nice tone for what was happening in the movie, and was chosen appropriately for what was going on at the time. A+ for the music (once again halfway serious). Back on a serious note, another reason I was delighted by this wacked out film is the unique plot line and the gruesome twists it unveils. I give it huge thumbs up for originality. It was predictable for me at times, but what horror movie isn’t? It is a little bit sick and gory in a few scenes so if you have a weak stomach you may want to look away at a few parts, but overall it isn’t that bad being compared to “Hostel” or “Saw.” I do have to say that whoever wrote this movie got tired of writing at the end cause the ending was like dog piss. My 5 year old nephew could have wrote a better ending to it. Thank goodness the rest of it was good cause I almost walked out at the end…ok that didn’t make sense but neither did the conclusion to this movie. But anways it’s a good love story wink*(you’ll know what I mean) and definitely will keep you awake a little that night after seeing it.

Hi! I'm Pattycakes. I absolutely love movies. I live, eat, breathe movies. It is my passion and I enjoy talking about them on a daily basis. I like any genre of movie and I really mean that. My taste goes from a heart pounding suspense to a romantic comedy to zombie horror flick. Movies are my way of escaping reality and living outside myself for that short period of time. I am living in the prime of great movie making and I love big blockbuster hits and the little independent films. If I can watch it I'll critique it honestly. If you want to know more about me just contact me through my email. Thanks and always watch out for ZOMBIES (;
