So, I just stumbled across this film today, and am very surprised at how much negative feedback it has gotten already. Personally, I thought the trailer for Kick-Ass looks like a real gut buster.
First off, the film sports a great cast. We have Clark Duke (Sex Drive), who is absolutely hilarious. Then we have Christopher Mintz-Plasse (AKA McLovin), another great personality for the film. However, I am quite perplexed as to another cast member, Nicolas Cage. He seems to have a leading role, but I just can’t figure out why. The film really doesn’t fit his style at all. I am a pretty big Cage fan, but I just don’t think that Kick-Ass is right for him. What does everyone think?
Tagline: I can’t fly, but I can kick your ass.
Release Date: 16 April 2010
Rating: R
Cast: Nicolas Cage, Aaron Johnson, Lyndsy Fonseca, Chloe Moretz, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Clark Duke

I have this comic but have not read it yet. Looking forward to it and Black Hole.
This trailer is garnering some bad reviews because all of the r-rated comic con footage has been taken out.
Hit Girl is no joke.

We talked about Kick-ASS back when the Comic Con footage was leaked. A few of us have read the books and are extremely excited about it. Here's where the “but” comes in. Hollywood as usual has spun this yet again like so many others into a “It's totally a movie for kids look.” Yeah not so much there execs. I'm hoping the movie gods don't fail me and I hope it's going to stay as true to the book as much as possible.

I really need to take some time to find the comic con trailer.
I havent read the book, but it looks like something I would be into, so I may. But then again, I may wait until after the film so that I am not completely let down.

When that trailer was leaked I was sent an email asking me to take it down, even though I had not posted it. It seems they sent out that notice to everyone.
I still have not seen it. All of them have probably been killed on YouTube. Glad I have the book though. I still have to finish Wanted.

Their costumes look very similar to their comic book incarnations.
I wish this was a independent film that was totally dark and true to the book.

Actually, Hollywood had no part in the making of Kick-Ass; Matthew Vaughn made the entire flick independently, with independent financiers, before selling the finished product to Lionsgate for distribution – this could be one time where the studio HASN'T meddled in the film.

Very good to hear Ryan. I was completely un-aware of this. Have you read the comic?
