Synopsis:
Based on Elliot Tiber’s memoir “Taking Woodstock: A True Story of a Riot, Concert, and a Life”, set during the politically turbulent summer of ’69. It tells the story of Tiber (Demetri Martin), an aspiring interior designer in Greenwich Village obliged to run the family business, a Catskills motel. In summer 1969, he found himself at the center of a generation-defining experience when he volunteered the motel to be the home base for Woodstock concert organizers after his neighbor, Max Yasgur, made his farm available for the event.
Release Date: August 14, 2009 (Limited)
I am not sure how that Taking Woodstock has slipped past me for so long, but it did and this trailer was news to me. The very first thing I noticed was Demitri Martin and I must say, I am not a big fan. It is not that I dislike the guy, it is just that he has never really wowed me.
However, further into the trailer I realized that I really like the style of humor in the film, and the entire basis for the film. I am one who enjoys a good comedy, and I like things that are different. I have to say that this film definitely looks different.
Other than just looking like an original film, I am also impressed by the appearance on Eugene Levy, one of my favorite comedy stars. Levy really hasn’t done much as of late, but Taking Woodstock seems to be right up his alley.
And finally, I am excited to see Dan Fogler blend in with the hippie crowd. Something tells me that his role is going to be hillarious. I am actually somewhat excited about the entire film, especially seeing as how it is “inspired by” true events. Which brings me to my final question, how much do you think that true events actually inspired the film?

I saw the trailer on Important Things too. That’s a good show. Demitri Martin is hilarious, but I’m surprised he’s snagged a role like this. As far as I know, he’s never had anything anywhere near as big as this is. He just got on TV, and he’s already starring in a semi-major release? Insane.
The trailer looks good, I’ll see the movie.
yes, that is Schrieber in drag. Very funny
