Some may say that Seth Rogen is almost played out, and to an extent I will agree. However, this trailer for his newest film, Observe and Report looks very promising.
A few thoughts came to mind when I was watching the trailer. The first thought was that this is exactly what I think Mall Cop should have been. Just from seeing the trailer it almost seems like the film is saying “OK Kevin James, if you are going to make a movie about a mall security gaurd at least do it right.” The second thought I had was how interesting I think the film will be with Anna Faris playing the love interest. She is a very funny actress and I can’t wait to see what she has to add.
The last thought isn’t necesarily about the film, but one of the actors, Ray Liotta. DAmn does this guy look rough. I have always liked ray Liotta as he starred in one of my favorite films of all time, Goodfellas, but man has he gone down hill. I still believe that he is a good actor, he just looks rough.
Just a reminder to everyone to watch the trailer while you still can, it may not be up for long.

Seth Rogen - Observe and Report

Loojks like it could be funny, however, I do not know if I would see this, i really cannot stand Seth Rogen, I think he is way overrated. Anna Faris is ttalented comedic Actress, and Ray Liota is uber talented, i wish he would do more roles like Narc and Blow, too different extremes, but he played them perectly.I wanted to kick him in the nuts in Wild Hogs, What was he thinking.

I’m not gonna fault the guy for getting his. I’d love to have what he’s gotten already. I really would.
Anna Faris is one of those rare women that are both laugh out loud hilarious and smoking hot. Insane.
I might check this out. I don’t hate Seth Rogen. I think he’s okay, I liked him in everything I’ve seen him in up until Pineapple Express. That movie was good, but Rogen gets ZERO credit for that. That was all James Franco.
Rogen was great in Freaks and Geeks. Man I miss that show…

This is though, exactly what Mall Cop should’ve been. Good call Stan.

Even though I enjoy Seth Rogen’s “unique” style of humor, I’ve got to admit that that joke was brilliant Metallicat. Totally makes up for your typing errors of late!

Hey, i got an idea. Let’s see how many times we can say f*ck in a trailer. Is Seth Rogen is slowly becoming Quentin Tarantino? I don’t have an issue with foul language…hell, I spent my high school & college years listening to mostly rap music. But seriously…it seems forced. I believe it was Eddie Murphy that once said he uses all the curse words in his jokes so the dumb people have something to laugh at. That is where I feel this movie belongs. I really wanted to like this trailer because I think Seth Rogen is funny but this is just missing the mark for me. The only way i’ll see this movie is if someone has already rented it and has invited me over to watch it…but they forgot to tell me what movie it was, so i show up with a pizza and some diet cokes, and they start the movie. I have a pizza in my hand and a comfortable place on the couch and I ask, hey what movie are we watching? and they reply, you know that one with seth rogen where he is a mall cop. To which i reply…damn it! well, i guess i’m already here. i’ll watch it….but i probably won’t like it.

I wrote that on a whim. Not really sure what i was on at the time, i think it was maybe the 5th or 6th can of coke that made me a little crazy.
Damn typos are going to kill me.

I have to say that this one missed the boat for me to. I was hoping to see “SUPERBAD” funny but it wasn’t there.
Dustin, I agree, the language and humor in this seemed forced. Now the real reason why I would see this is because of Anna Faris. Wow you are right Jon, she is so smokin’ hot, but I won’t be paying full price to see this, that’s for sure.
Sorry Seth…I mean Anna, call me we’ll do lunch.

It definitely forced. I really like Seth Rogen’s movies, but it’s pretty obvious to me that this movie is a classic example of the Murphy rule as you mentioned Dustin. The F-Bomb is dropped for the less intelligent viewers. There are other ways to get a laugh. Now, I’m all for an F-Bomb from time to time. It’s usually pretty funny. But in this trailer it feels like overkill.

For me, It was not so much that it was forced, but rather the F-Bombs just felt so out of place.

Wow, I expected some push back from my comments. But you guys actually agree with me. Awesome.
And yes…Anna Farris is hot.

Wow, I feel a bit like the minority here. I love Seth Rogans comedies, for the most part, and I guess I am one of the stupid people that enjoy cheap laughs, ie the F-Bomb. There is just something about it that can bring a comedy together. No, it is not meant for every comedy, and to an extent I can agree that it is a bit forced.
But the F-Bombs aside, you have to admit that the whole concept of a mall cop that has just been pushed too far sounds hillarious.
What if there were a different actor, would it make it better for you guys? Or a few less F-Bombs? They have to be there or else we just have another mall cop lol.

I agree with 90% of what you are saying Stan. I love Seth Rogan’s films, and I am indeed a fan of the F-Bomb. But the trailer seemed to show that they forced the word in there for the sake of it being there. Maybe it’s just how they cut the trailer. I’ll check this out though for sure. I don’t care what anybody says, I like his films.

Whats the 10% you disagree with??
I really do not know why i dislike Rogen so much, oone day while in my therapy sessions I will discover, along with my mama issues, that Rogen is the source of all my frustrations and Anger with this world. Hehe.

Well, I guess I just felt the need to state that the last part of his comment didn’t apply to me! ;)

Ha ha ha ha Dudes…
Shit, this looks soooo mental… I’ll probably want to see it just for Anna Faris… that’s the only chick who’s able to do what she does and still look hot!
You know how Kate Hudson tries to be like her mom but sucks at it? Well Anna Faris is the girl we all wanted from Goldie!
Film wise this looks pretty lame, but I’m sure it has some ok scenes in it.
Do I like Seth? Actually I don’t remember ever seeing a film from this dude… so any recommendations on my way into his style of comedy?

Classic Seth Rogen includes Superbad, The 40 Year Old Virgin, and if you can find it somewhere, any and all episodes of Freaks and Geeks. Oh, and Zack and Miri make a porno was good too.
But I just don’t see you liking Seth Rogen movies Ergo. It’s definitely not for everybody.

Anna Faris is awesome!!!!

I think Seth is pretty funny, but he’s hitting that over saturation point. Plus, for me they pot/drug jokes are getting a little old coming from him.
I get it…he loves the pot. Let’s move on, shall we?
My problem with this film was I could tell what it wanted to be. Slap-stick comedy, action comedy, American-pie type comedy. The trailer just didn’t work for me.

@JD
I agree, but only to a certain extent, I do not mind pot jokes or even Dirty jokes, but what i find with Seth is that he is overkill with the dirty and pot jokes, try something new and different with your humor.Branch out a little, i think he complacent and stuck in this comfort zone, i think that is really my problem with him, he does not do other humor. He should find a movie with either Jim Carey, Robin Williams or Kevin James and learn from them, you do not have to be dirty all the time to get a laugh out of people.
The trouble i had with this trailer was that i did not know what it was trying to be, was a camedy, action or something to be taken semi serious? And again the jokes were a little bit stale IMO.

It’s good to see I wasn’t the only one frustrated by what this movie wanted to be.

I think this will be a good one. Maybe not great but definitely worth watching. This has that Pineapple Express feel to it and it looks very promising. I will be seeing it when it comes out.
