PUSH, is a mix of JUMPER style espionage and HEROES style paranormal powers. I didn’t find the film hard to follow, however I did find the film boring and very derivative of similar sci-fi trends mainly (HEROES). Nobody can fly in this film but is there really anything new here?
Nick Gant (Evans) has been on the run from a psychic espionage group known as The Division ever since they killed his father. Taking refuge in the crowded slums of Hong Kong, only works for so long as he’s relocated by Division agents. It seems they are actively pursuing a fugitive test subject that escaped after surviving a new psychic enhancement drug. After finding out that Nick has had no contact with her, they leave him with a warning not to run as they now know where he is.
Enter Cassie Holmes (Fanning), she’s the 13 year old daughter of the most powerful paranormal test subject The Division has ever known. Like her mother, Cassie has the power to see the future. However a world where the future can be seen, is also a world where the future can be altered. She meets up with Nick and tells him that he’s going to help her find a missing case that’s at the center of the Division’s pursuit. Because of something his father told him years ago, Nick believes her and they team up to find the case and save Cassie’s mother from the Division.
The missing fugitive Kira (Belle), holds the key to finding the missing case. Unfortunately she’s had her memory wiped and doesn’t know how she arrived in Hong Kong or anything else. She does have the power to make people believe whatever she wants, and she uses that to escape the Division sniffer agents that finally catch up with her. Unfortunately the Chinese also have a Division and they know about the case, they just don’t know what’s inside.
Nick and Cassie attempt to find Kira before the American and Chinese Division’s kill them all, as Cassie constantly reminds Nick that she sees them all dying in the near future.
Decent performances from Chris Evans and Dakota Fanning, yet the story is eventfully anti climatic and overall comes across as a “Lost in Translation”, Hong Kong version of a Heroes 2 parter. The effects are decent except for a comical scene where handguns are used by paranormals to shoot at each other. Overall this film is a rental at best as I found myself bored with the visual beauty of it all…

Was it anything like Wanted? Whenever I saw the trailers for it I thought it looked like a mix between Jumper and Wanted.

Well I’ve never seen the full Wanted film, so I can’t tell ya,,, :) (there is no recruitment of a civilian) if that’s what you mean,,,?
The film has a agent that’s a lot like Samuel Jacksons “Jumper” character and Fannings character reminded me of the kid in Heroes…
Push, has an original flavor, and its worth a rental but there are some big probs with the film, enough to where it distracts from the action.
Fanning’s outfit is out of place and how did she get to Hong Kong anyway ? Are just a few that bug you throughout the film,,, The ending is a real blue baller,,, :(
Its set up for a sequel, I’m betting it will pull down over 24 mil. this weekend.. But word of mouth is gonna kill this film…
I really wanted to see “FANBSOYS” today. Just fyi asshole’s! I would have seen your movie over PUSH today! Let’s get off our ass and distribute some of the good stuff, and where the fuck is Outlander!!??
You suits studios are blowing it !!! Assholes!!! :-/

@790
When does Fanboys come out, or did i miss it, i saw trailer for it a while ago, but had not heard anything since.
Push looks like it tries to hard to be something its not. I think i will not even waste time on it, looks dull and listliss.

Fanboys came out yesterday and its playing in LA, Texas, NY, Philadelphia, Chicago, San Fran, and Seattle.
That’s it,,,,,!!!! Apparently if it does well there going to release it in more theaters.
^
They should make the sequel to Fanboys, where Fanboy fans have to drive from Canada to Chicago, to see Fanboys before their friend dies of cancer,,,
Lame ass distribution!!!,,, I’m going to try and catch it in Burbank sometime next week,,,:)

I was not impressed by any of the trailers for this film and I am glad I stayed away. At least Jumper had badass, deceptively good trailers. Push did not even have those.

I’m looking forward to “Fanboys” too. You know the Weinstein’s are pulling for this to do gang busters after all the backlash they took for taking control of the story, doing re-shoots, then giving control of the story back to Kevin Spacey’s (Trigger Street Productions) writers and director.
If you’re looking for some fun insight to what went down during this film, Kevin Spacey was interviewed at Comic-Con back in July by Jeff Goldsmith of Creative Screenwriting Magazine. You can still download the podcast over at the Creative Screenwriting Magazine website. It’s a pretty good listen.
(Actually an all around great podcast for those of you interested in the screenwriting side of filmmaking.)
