9 new character posters!

A little while back I wrote about a trailer I saw for what appeared to be a twisted little animated film, 9.  I honestly haven’t seen many trailers like it; a trailer where I was so utterly confused about the true intentions of the film, and what exactly the film’s target audience was.  After watching the trailer I was unsure if it was typically, animated kid’s movie material, and quite frankly I still don’t know.  All I know is that I still want to see this movie.  I guess I owe another thank you to the Moviesfornobodies crew for turning me on to this film.  I’ve been following it ever since.  9appears to be a film that pushes the boundaries and what we have come to accept as the “norm” for the genre.  It seems to be a film that challenges kids to think as opposed to un-intelligent fart jokes filling a film that’s only intention is to occupy a child’s time for a few hours.  Maybe it’s all of these things, maybe it’s none of these things… Like I said, I don’t know anything other than that I want to see it.  I think it’s the sort of film that friends of MovieGuys will want to see.  It boasts a unique stylization and a great cast, including voice work by Elijah Wood, Jennifer Connelly, John C. Reilly, Crispin Glover, Martin Landau and Christopher Plummer.  So when these wicked cool character posters were brought to my attention, I knew they should be brought to your attention.  So, without further ado, here are the posters.  Click on them to see them full size:

When 9 (voice of Elijah Wood) first comes to life, he finds himself in a post-apocalyptic world where all humans are gone, and it is only by chance that he discovers a small community of others like him taking refuge from fearsome machines that roam the earth intent on their extinction. Despite being the neophyte of the group, 9 convinces the others that hiding will do them no good. They must take the offensive if they are to survive, and they must discover why the machines want to destroy them in the first place. As they’ll soon come to learn, the very future of civilization may depend on them.

In a “clever” marketing ploy, 9 opens September 9th – 9/9/09

I saw the previews for this before Transformers and each time I see it the movie grows on me. looks like a little animated matrix with machines taking over with small characters. very interesting looking…

9 has yet to wow me. They still have a while to win me over, but for now I could care less.

I’m not sure how great a story it will be, but I know that it looks very intriguing, and I’m a fan of the style the animators have used in creating this film. I’ll definitely check it out. I’m with you cat – more I see of it, the more I like it.

I’m with you Jon. There is something about the animation and style that has me curious. I too hope the script is good, but it looks like an awfully hard sell. I’ll probably end up seeing it on DVD, just because of ticket prices…

I know! Ticket prices are getting ridiculous! It costs $11 to get in after 6. Few movies are worth that!
