Over the past couple of months there has been speculation on who will play the riddler in the Dark Knight or if there will even be an Edward Nygman (aka the Riddler) in the movie at all. The first suggestions or assumtions were that the character was going to be played by Anthony Michael Hall. For everyone who may not know who Hall is, he is the teen star who played in all those 80’s movies like Breakfast Club, Weird Science, and Sixteen Candles. Hall is definitely not a teen anymore and he’s not seen a whole lot in the major films.

It has been said that he will not be playing the Riddler but a field reporter that isn’t quite fond of Bruce Wayne. His character actually discovers the identity of the Dark Knight and the Joker somehow gets involved with the situation causing some chaos for Bruce Wayne/Batman. For those of you still in the dark on who is playing the Joker, it is Heath Ledger. It looks like he has taken on the role very well. Check out some pictures of the Joker if you can because they are really cool.

 So if Hall isn’t playing the Riddler, who is? This is just speculation but some people are saying that the role could be played by Johnny Depp. To see Depp play a lunatic would be interesting because he’s never really played an evil/bad guy character before. All his other starring roles have been good guys. Whatever it is, I don’t think we are going to see the Riddler until the third movie. Edward Nygma might make an appearence in the Dark Knight but there hasn’t been any news on the Riddler being apart of the filming. I guess we’ll see.
