7 James Bond World Records
Like most people I love the Guinness World Records. There is just something about all of the bits of useless information, spectacular feats, and sometimes bizarre records that can just keep me occupied for hours.
So in anticipation for The Quantum of Solace, I thought it would be fun to take a look at the records that are held by the legend known as, James Bond.
- Most Prolific Stuntman - Vic Armstrong currently holds the record for most prolific stuntman. He has doubled in almost EVERY James Bond film, and all three of the original Indiana Jones flicks. Sadly Vic was not part of Casino Royale or most recently, the Quantum of Solace. Quite a feat if you ask me.
- Most Valuable Typewriter - In 1995 Ian Flemming’s typewriter was sold for approximately $100,000. The typewriter was the one that was used by Flemming to write the original novels that have led to a film sensation. Quit a hefty price for such a dated piece of equipment.
- Largest Sum Paid for Bond Memorabilia - In 2001the Aston Martin DB5 that was used in GoldenEye sold for approximately $230,000. Quit a price tag for a piece of movie memorabilia, but I am sure that it made one fan very, very happy. How often is it you can say, “Yeah, that’s James Bond’s car.”
- Largest Breakaway Glass Structure Made For a Film - In Die Anotehr Day James Bond drove his Aston Martin Vanquish into the Ice Palace hotel room door to save the life of Jinx, he was making a world record. It was approximately 8.5 feet by 6 feet and was over 1 inch thick. It weighed a whopping 350lbs. Personally I think it would have been cool to see it done with real glass, but I am sure it made for a better scene being fake.
- Highest Ski Base Jump on Film - In the The Spy Who Loved Me, James Bond skied off a 2,000ft cliff. Luckily, he deployed a parachute and flew to safety. This made this scene the highest ski base jump ever to be caught on film.
- Longest Speedboat Jump - In the film Live and Let Die, during the speedboat chase, James Bond made an astonishing jump in his speed boat. The jump was over a road and into the water on the other side, a full 120 feet.
- Most Profitable Movie Series - I am unsure of the actual dollar amount that set this record, but James Bond has made $4,397,593,106 to date (not including his newest film Quantum of Solace). If you factor in inflation over the years he has made the equivalence of $11,615,711,960. All i have to say is, wow.
I am sure there are several more Bond records, and I am sure taht Bond will continue to set records. Hopefully his newer films will keep the serieas alive. My only concern is that the series is going to start going downhill. Hopefully Bond is like a good wine, he will just get better with age.

Well done Stan! Very impressive post.
I’m sorry to say, but this franchise is losing it’s luster for me. And it’s Daniel Craig’s fault. I don’t like him. He’s not Bond to me. I’ve never heard a single person come out and say it, but I can’t be the only one, can I? Am I the only Craig hater? The movies are well written and the action is good, but I don’t like him as Bond.
Wow I think your the first Jon,,, lol
I liked Craig as a new look for Bond, I found that was one of the problems with the past Bonds, they all had the same look, dialog, taste in 380’s.
(IMO)
The tone of “Casino Royale” really shattered the franchise in a good way… After the first chase scene I was hooked on Craig, and one of my favorite parts was him dealing with being poisoned.
I’m looking forward to Stans review as I prob won’t get a chance to see this for awhile.
One thing that I sure hope they upgrade in this new film is that stupid (Wather PPK), sure it sounds like a cool gun, but in reality you prob couldn’t kill a full size dog with one…
I thought I might be. I loved the movie it was all great except Craig. Oh well. I’m no stranger to opinions that I alone have. I’ll still go see Quantum of Solace. I see it all, good, bad, and even the ones starring Daniel Craig.
Lol Jon,,, I get the same reaction when I tell people that I thought Speed Racer was the best film of 2008…
(True story)
Seriously?!?!?!?!?!?
In all seriousness, thats what makes this site so great. It really is an honor to be here. There are so many different opinions and ideas, but they aren’t just different for the sake of being different. Everyone is educated and well researched.
Speed Racer? Really?
Just kidding! LOL ;)
Haha well maybe not no 1 but pretty close.
That film really gave me a natural high. I grew up with Speed Racer, and I’m sure that played a factor in my opinion of the fantastic film!
I liked Speed Racer. It was a fun movie I could watch with my son. Just won’t make it into my TOP 10
I still havent seen Speed Racer, i am so afraid I will be disappointed. I guess i will have to stop letting my fear control me lol.
As long as you don’t expect Speed Racer to be like the cartoon we all know and love, I don’t think you will be disappointed!
