Any Jerry Seinfeld fans reading today? Well, he isn’t going to be in the latest R-rated Adam Sandler flick Funny People but no matter how many times I watch the trailer, I can’t shake the Jerry Seinfeld feeling. I don’t know if it the Seinfeld-style opening, or the fact that the cast reminds me of the cast from Seinfeld (ie Jonah Hill – George Costanza, Seth Rogan – Kramer, Adam Sandler – Jerry).
It may be a bit of a stretch relating the latest raunchfest to hit Hollywood to Seinfeld but I simply can’t shake the thoughts from my mind. No, Sandler is no Seinfeld, and Seinfeld is no Sandler, they are completely different styles of humor, but the basic theme of the cast seems to fit. You have the comedian, the goof, the short fat guy, and the token white chick.
Funny People has not yet been rated, but I expect it WILL be rated R, and is set to release July 31, 2009.
What does everyone else think? Am I just spewing words from my ass, or does my comparison have some truth to it?.

WOW!!! I actually wrote this off as another dumb Sandler movie, totally not what I was expecting it to be at all, It actaully looks good! Even Rogen looks like he will be good in this one, maybe this will be the one that finally brings me onto the Rogen Bandwagen. Plus it has Jason Schwartzman, who never dissapoints, no matter how dumb the movie he is in is.

It did have a Seinfeld-feel to the opening of it. I’ll have to bring this one up with the M4N guys. Chris hates when comedians do these serious roles, but I think this has a nice blend of both. I think this looks like a pretty good flick.
“I enjoy all of your movies…”
“which movies?”
“The ones where you try to kill Bruce Willis.”
Love it.

I laughed so hard when i heard that line. I don’t mind it when a comedian goes all serious in their roles, what bothers me is when it becomes all they do (Yes Jim Carrey I am talking to you)

I lost interest In Sandler right after the shit the was Little Nicky, of all the time i could have back, and erased, its that hour and half. Little Nicky is my Corky Romano. What a piece of crap! I digress, I actaully think this has potential, and if anything I will see just for Jason Schwartzman, that guy is hilarious.

It looks to me like it may be a “deeper” comedy than we have seen from the previous films that surround the cast. Perhaps it will have more of a story, or dilema than the typycal Sandler, or Rogen film, I dont know.

Hmmmm….. No. No Seinfeld. The ONLY similarity was when Sandler was on stage with the spotlight on him and the red curtains in the background. I’m not even sure this movie looks very funny. It definately seemed like a drama cast entirely with comedians who can’t help but throw in some unitentional humor.
